Well, she has been sitting on it a lot a lot a lot, but she still gets off it every now and then and climbs out of the nest box to go canoodle with her baby daddy ;)
The father of the egg doesnt really take food to her. When she is hungry , she just goes and eats out of the food bin...
I was wondering if there is anyway to tell if the egg is fertile or not? The egg has red speckles on it...Will she lay anymore?
Also, if the egg IS NOT fertile, will she ever get off of it and go back to her normal life?
THANKS!

She laid the egg 3 days ago, and yes this is her first time laying.
But she has been a "couple" with the male bird for about 2 years now.

If she will let you touch the egg, hold it up to the light. If you see a black spot inside, it's fertile. If she won't let you touch it, shine a very bright flashlight and look for same.
It should hatch in 20-30 days. It's fine if she leaves it to eat, a little cooling period is okay for embryos inside eggs. If she leaves it altogether, you can still try hatching it under a regular 100 watt light shining on it. But if YOU hatch it, it is up to you to hand feed it! So be careful, and let your lady bird be the mommy and see how she does. Young fledgling parakeets are just as easy to train and adjust to humans as hand-fed babies, as long as you handle them very, very gently and often.
Congratulations and hope all goes well!

So I take it that there is a male to fertilize the egg. How old is this couple? Is it the first time she has laid? You have also not said how long ago the egg was laid. If you are going to have a "couple" then you need to learn what to expect.
