Off white is rather blah in my opinion. I think you are afraid to add too much color, so are going with the plainest neutral you can think of to make a 'safe' decision, but I would recommend going with a bit more color. Stay in that same color range but go just a bit darker with more of a light taupe. It will create a more defined line between ceiling and wall. Plus the added bit of color helps anchor the room. Still neutral enough to go with everything. Also liked what someone else said about having white tinted with a hint of color. That looks nice too especially if you have a dominate color in your furniture. Remember, paint is easy to paint over if you don't like it or get tired of it. Good luck!

That is a very basic choice. You might want to take into consideration the other colors that will be in the room, like the couch or rugs. Taking a color from these and painting one wall to match - an accent wall - can give the room some "punch" without being overpowering. Also use cushions/pillows for additional color. Choose what will make you feel most at home and comfortable, it is only paint and can be easily changed!

Why not paint a color? I don't know about you, but I hate white walls. It's so bland, no personality. I think if your going to spend the money to paint- express yourself, do what you want. Color paint costs the same, so why not put "you" into the room? Have some FUN!!!

I would go with a light tan or a light blue because your room is small. Darker colors make it look smaller. Or you could just paint one wall. Everything in my house is black white and brown. I love it. It looks really classy while being very relaxing =) Add some throw pillows and candles =)

It can be done. But should it.
What you truly need to ask yourself; is can you live with that. Personally, I could not. So, I will guide you to some sites with good information on both design and color.

Absolutely. Though a ceiling does not have to be white, it is generally my preference to make it a bright, very white, ceiling white. And the slight contrast to your off-white walls will make that "just a bit of color" in the off-white pop out more.

YES!
It is the basic color scheme.
White for ceiling, because it will reflect light better.
Off white usually satin type paint so it is easier to clean and doesn't get dirty as quickly as white.
