Longest it's taken me is 3 weeks.
I don't clicker train because it sometimes will train the bird to get angry at you (just like with food treats) if it does something good and doesn't get rewarded because you don't have the clicker with you. I use verbal praise and sometimes toys as treats for REALLY good things.
If you're doing the clicker training from that bird tricks website, it really doesn't work in the long term, trust me. I've been doing this for a LONG time.
For training methods that REALLY work, (and are free, too) go to http://www.cockatootrainer.com/
It also has free email and if the technique described on the site doesn't work for your bird (not all work for every bird, every bird is different), you can email and get answers within 24 hour. You can also ask any "dumb" question you want and not have to feel like a complete idiot :)
Good luck!

Clicker trainning is excellent but if you intend on using you need to find a good source to learn how to use it properly.

1. well you did answer your own question partly with earning trust. The time has everything to do with the bird itself. Any kinda forcing on your behalf, loud sudden noises, not allowing the bird to get to know you, you not being patient will set him back. No one can give you a time frame. It just depends on how well & quickly your bird will take to you & how good you are at knowing what to do with him, knowing how to read him like a book & getting him to earn your trust.

2. out on his perch & away from any other distractions.

3. As I said go & find some good sources on clicker training. If you don't know about clicker training yourself, you can't teach your AG.

4. yep can be if it's what he's been taught, or it may be a way he's trying to communicate with you (learn his body language) or if he's a rehomed it could be anyhting.

5. Nothing.
Very simple. You cannot & shoudln't attempt to train him until he's used to you, home & environment around him. If you attempt to train him now it'll be like banging ya head on a brick wall. It won't work. Give him the time he needs & google AG forums, websites etc & try & settle him into his home comfortably.

Also while you're doing this with him google clicker training. It's a popular training techneque & used by many people. Read up on how to do it properly before starting.
