He likes to lay in boxes. The first time we saw him jump inside of a cardboard box that we received in the mail and lay inside there, we knew something was up. We thought he liked it, so we bought him a cubic bed that has a hole in it so he can climb in there and he loves it!! Is this ordinary that a cat loves to lay in cubes?

That's very normal (and very common!). I have a photo collection of my cat in "things" - moving boxes, suitcases, duffle bags, a pizza box! etc etc etc. She loves climbing into little nooks. Cats are very social creatures, but they're also very independent and like their alone time. They're also very smart. All things considered, wouldn't you like a little cozy quiet place to relax? :)

I had to do this:
I googled "cat in box"
enjoy!

It's normal and very common. Cats love small spaces. I had a cat who would try to climb into empty kleenex boxes to sleep in them. He was bigger than the box and would just end up crushing it, but he never stopped trying and hoping he could get inside.

Get out! He did not, in a box? NO! In the rain...on a train? A cat in a box, how can that be? Now, that is just freakin' ODD! What are you gunn'a do about it? Pretty soon he'll be into bigger things - like your couch! Boxes are the gateway drug of the feline world!

I haven't met a cat yet that didn't love to jump inside a box :)

To them, it's a hiding place - even if it's an open-topped box! I've even heard about people who's cats enjoy being pushed around in them - it's their "car" ;););)

Yes. Cats love cozy and small spaces where they will be warm. There is nothing to worry about. In fact it is quite normal. Pedro is a smart cat for figuring this out = D.

Cats like small spaces. It's nothing that any other cat really doesnt do. My cat loves to go into boxes.

cats LOVE boxes and bags. of my 4 cats 2 like boxes. They love sleeping on, of all things, pizza boxes (people wonder why I have one in the living room!)

I have one cat who will try to stuff his huge body in any tiny box that he comes across... very funny.

No not at all!!! They love tight and warm spaces, so a cardboard box would be IDEAL for them! And what you got for him is quite fine as well! He's just having a smashing time!

cats loves boxes! most all cats do! whenever he is in a cardboard box throw in a cat toy one of those shiny foil looking type balls in there with him, it will make noise and he will go nuts patting it around!

They also like elevated places.
i don't know how much room you have in your home, but if you provided a place for him to climb up and "hide" above all the action, he would probably love it.

The way MY cat is....you can't let him know it's FOR him, or else he won't go there. I have to make the place and then ignore him. they all have their own personalities!!
