Just wondering how many there are around here. If so, what is your background? I accepted Christ in my car but had been going to a Church of God for a year prior, and then for a year after. We moved to FL and have been at a Calvary Chapel ever since.

Each Calvary Chapel is different. If one was militant, the next one is probably very different. Mine is not like that at all.

I would love to go to a Messianic Congregation. That would be great. The woman who helped lead me to Christ was a Messianic Jew. You guys are the real thing! As God intended!

Calvary Chapel, Salt Lake City. My background included a stab at LDS, but I saw right through the cult, (Jesus and Satan are brothers, and both are sons of God who used to be a man Himself). But Pastor Terry is really funny, and came from a biker back ground (drugs, etc). Met and went to Chuck Smith's church in CA. Any way, he a his wife got saved, became a pastor, came thru SLC, and was "Told" to start Calvary SLC.
I really like the "It's all about Jesus, and the Chapter by Chapter teaching. I don't like the guitars but the rest is neat.

As a long way because the "lose your salvation" factor is going, if that is a obstacle you then even have issues with Assembly of God, Christian Assembly, Foursquare Church, Methodists, Nazarene, Brethren, Lutherans, and a number of others. The expertise likelihood of apostasy has colossal Biblical aid. Regarding Calvary Chapel -- As with many church buildings, the "taste" can fluctuate such a lot from one nearby frame to one other that it may be rough to feel all are facet of the identical denomination or association. I attended a small one a number of years in the past till it closed. It used to be informal and pleasant. I in general loved it, despite the fact that I used to be a little bit eliminate by means of the emphasis on prophecy and eschatology, in conjunction with a few tendency closer to conspiracy theories. The principal Calvary Chapel Web web page used to have plenty in their teachings -- notably books by means of Chuck Smith -- to be had for viewing, however now I handiest discover one, or even that one has a damaged hyperlink.

I've been a few times. Log time ago. Each individual "chapel" varies, and - I am glad you found a good one. But many people (I am undecided) believe that Pastor Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel have some very cult-like beliefs.

i went to a Calvary chapel once
they didn't even ask if i was saved - they only wanted to know where i lived (just 7 miles away) and i got told to 'go somewhere nearer
plus i didn't fancy sitting through another 3 months of sermons about Leviticus so eventually found a nice baptist church 12 miles away from my home instead
would i try a calvary chapel again? probably not

I used to go to a Calvary Chapel.
There's quite a few in Florida.
Go to:
www.calvarychapel.com
click on churches, and you can search by several criteria, including State.

Do some research on Messianic Judaism... we believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the living Son Of God and that none of the bible has been cancelled out or done away with. Yahweh (G-d) never changes and His word never changes.
