justin: prove one thing. just one.

RB: none of that proves anything. first of all, there is no scientific proof that a god created the earth. secondly, we knew we needed blood to live well before the bible was written. third, that the "heavens" are stretched says nothing about the universe since according to your bible, heaven is outside of what we know.

Rebecca: how exactly do words add up to seven? and even if they do (which they don't), how does that prove the bible? point out these "historical" facts and we'll go from there. NOTHING prophesied in the bible can be said to be true without a GREAT stretch of the imagination. oh, and no one is denying that places, and even people mentioned in the bible existed. real people are mentioned in all kinds of fiction books, yet they are still fiction. this is not proof.

mike m: the bible says the earth is ROUND, not a sphere. round=flat. try again. as for the water cycles, any idiot watching a river could figure that one out. and how does weight of wind translate into weight of water exactly?

2007-07-09 16:56:10 · update #8

mike. a circle is NOT a sphere. a circle is 2-d. a sphere is 3-d. there's a huuuuuge difference.

1. Find a snake skeleton that has a voice box.

2. Find the preserved corpses of Adam and Eve missing belly buttons.

3. Establish the mechanism by which a virgin with only XX sex chromosomes can give birth to a male offspring with XY chromosomes.

4. Determine the mechanism by which Jehovah could hold the sun still in the sky for a day that's either compatible with heliocentrism or doesn't cause the Earth's angular momentum to cause massive destruction.

5. Or, come to the conclusion that the Wholly Babble, like other religious scripture, is a bunch of wacked-out nonsense created by religious nuts from a less-enlightened age.

Do you want to hear that the bible stated that the earth was a sphere a couple of Thousand years before it was proved?

Do you want to hear about how, at a time when the earth was thought to be carried on a large animal, the bible stated that it "hangs on nothing"? Science didn't discover that until 1860...AD.

In Psalms 8:8, there is written about paths in the sea. Matthew Maury(who is considered the father of oceanography) said, "If God says that there are paths in the sea, I am going to find them." He is responsible for the warm and cold continental currents. His book on oceanography still remains a basic text on the subject today...still used in universities.

How about the water cycles. ..."all the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, there they return." Example: The Mississippi river dumps approx 518 billions of water into the Gulf of Mexico...Where does it all go? The answer is in the water cycles that the bible talks about. "He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the face of the earth."

Air Mass: Job 28:25 tells us that there is a 'weight for the wind'. It wasn't until the 16th century that this was discovered. The fact that so much water covers the earth means that the effects of the sun and moons gravity are balanced perfectly. The energy is dissipated in water--the weight of the water is precisely measured.

there is a WHOLE lot more but I have to go put my kids to bed and the wife is waiting...but just know, I can come up with...oh say 100

After thought: Do you know that a circle IS a sphere?...or is it square to you or mabe a circle is semi-spherical to you...no...no...I checked...it's a sphere.
I do not seriously believe that you COULD have figured that the earths rivers run into the ocean and THEN said that God calls the waters from the ocean to water the earth in the form of clouds and rain. You don't even know what a sphere is.

Air has water weight that is perfectly balanced with everything.God Solves the Weight Problem
How has God solved the weight problem? First, He uses heat. We know heat expands things and cold contracts them, and that water is the material most subject to expansion. In fact, when turned into steam, it becomes 1,600 to 1,700 times its original volume. Remember, though, this water is 800 times heavier than the atmosphere. But God simply sends down the warming rays of the sun, turning the water into a vapor which is 900 times lighter than water. Now it is one-eighth times lighter than the atmosphere. So this vapor is easily lifted up out of the ocean, carried into the sky?perhaps miles into the air?and formed into great cloud masses.

ummmm...

Still later: "puppies, poetry and sunshine" ...go figure.
Hey look, something shiny!

There's two really good books written by a guy named Grant Jeffries, one is called The Handwriting of God, and I think the other is called The Fingerprint of God.

In one of the books he outlines something that is too fantastic to wrap your mind around. Mathematically speaking, the first seven words of the Bible are so mathematically perfect that in 150 years of trying, not one person has been able to duplicate it. Every word, every phrase, no matter how you match it up, they all equal some computation of the number seven. They've tried it in every language on the planet and it can't be matched or duplicated.

The Bible talks about events in history that weren't proven out scientifically until the 1950s or later -- Mars and its two moons, the valleys under the ocean, the fact that the universe is anchored to nothing.

Archeology has found evidence of kings and civilizations using nothing but Biblical text -- because there was no other evidence -- and found that the Bible was spot on accurate in leading said archeologists to the evidence they were looking for.

There have been events foretold in the Bible that came to fruition many hundreds of years after the fact, right down the guy's name who did it. Nostrodamus couldn't even do that. He was always 'close,' but he was never 100%.

There's also a really great book called The Gold of Exodus, written by a guy name Karnuk who figured, if the story of Moses actually happened, there should be a wad of gold buried out there in the desert somewhere. He got a financier to help him find it. What he found would shock the world.

In the end, you're going to believe what you want to believe, regardless of what evidence is presented to you. The only way you will know for sure is to say, God, if you're there, SHOW ME. He will. He showed me in the most miraculous way, I can't even talk about it without crying, and it's been 25 years.

Another good book is called, Evidence That Demands A Verdict by a guy named Josh McDowell. He was an attorney who sought out to prove all that Bible stuff was just bunk. What HE discovered changed his life.

Good luck, mate, and check these books out at the library.

Oh, and by the way, here's a couple videos that you can check out on this website that actually has exactly what you're looking for:

http://www.wlalwcc.org

They're on the right hand side of the screen, and regardless of your beliefs, they're just really interesting to watch.

The Bible says in the beginning God created the Heavens and earth. This is a starting point. Most scientists give an age to the universe. The Bible says life is in the blood. We need blood to circulate for life. The Bible says the heavens are stretched out like a curtain. This shows expansion. Would you like more?!

Bible is a book that show how God will die for our sin. At the beginning through the end, it is all about how God plan on his mission and it is to get crucified and raise from the death. The Holy Spirit guide many prophets from generation to generation to write down God plan. So, John the Baptist is the last real Prophet. There are no Prophet after John the Baptist. It is not a book of history or science.

ok heres some proof

Before human Discovered the earth is hangeth upon nothing
it is written in the bible.

He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

Job 26:7

before Magellan circumnavigate the earth. it was written

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.

What do u call science?
Now days science primaryly with materials. They dont deal with things which goes beyond that.

There are people who die by scorpion stings and there are also men who eat scorpions. Thats a wonder an science explain that.
Every day many life is born can science explain that.

With our science we can not explain many, many things.

But the fact is religions are also science. That science cannot be explained but can bve felt. For feeling that we need to evolve in it. There are people in this world who have the ability to cure diseases, to bend metal with eyes, talk to the dead, feel the presence of God.

Yesterdays science is today fiction.

This question is too easy. Really. You want me to prove "just one thing", so I'll only prove one.

According to the bible, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon (also known as Nebuchadrezzar II) conquered Jerusalem and deported many of its citizens to Babylon. (2 Kings chapter 24).

According to a scholarly translation of texts discovered by archaeologists (note: scientist), including this http://www.livius.org/cg-cm/chronicles/abc5/jerusalem.html , that is indeed what happened. The year and month of the conquest are known from historical documents discovered and authenticated by scientists.

There are probably hundreds of additional examples.

Thats the problem, while i am just a study and cant answer your question, i can tell you this.
EVERYTHING in the bible is done by science. SUPER ADVANCED SCIENCE. by a god who is aeon's ahead of humans in intelligence. Think about it, people call things that they dont understand, magic, or faith, like, if i brought a liter into the 16th century. when i made the flames come out from "nothing" people would think i was using magic. I hope this helps

Sorry, crystalline; this is the best I can do:
1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1Co 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1Co 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1Co 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1Co 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
1Co 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1Co 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

So, I guess the answer is no, since you give no credit to the Bible. Can you disprove the Bible using science if I get to choose what information to accept?
