I have a cat that is a little over a year old. She was all black I swear until this past weekend....her underbelly and legs are starting to turn a chocolate brown....I've never known this to happen and wonder if anyone can tell me....I'm entirely serious....

TIA!

Shes an indoor cats, still has her claws but she does like to lay wherever the sun comes in, thats her favorite thing to do....I seriously never even gave it a thought that the sun could be *bleaching* her out......a blonde moment for sure...thanks Spazzcat!

Common in black cats who lay in the sun. The hair gets bleached. :)

Diet changes can change the color of animal fur and hair. When the weather gets cool, the deer around here change from a light tan to almost red hair. My hair changed from blonde to brown.

Black animals often develop brown patches. Does she sunbathe in the garden? If she likes to lie on her back in the sun the sunlight will bleach her black underparts to brown.

It is all good and you have nothing to worry about.

It is just her adult hair growing in.

All part of her growing process :)
