Yes, you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you eat. That is the simple formula for weight loss, that's what it's all about.

However, you do not need to burn as many calories as you eat. Your body burns calories just to function. In fact, about 10% of the calories you eat are burned just to digest that food.

Use this calculator to determine how many calories you need right now to maintain your weight. Use that number then eat 250 to 500 calories less than that and/or exercise to burn a little faster.

Good luck to you!

You don't say your gender/age/height/weight. 2000 calories is a lot, if you are planning to lose weight.

And planning to burn 2000 calories is even more ambitious. I'm not sure that can be done. That's a lot of work. Consider a brisk walk for a 150# person will burn 52 calories every 10 minutes or about 312 calories an hour.

It takes 3,500 calories to make a pound of body fat.
It takes 12 calories per pound for females, and 15 calories per pound for males to stay where they are with their weight.

Burn more calories than you take in...yeah, that's pretty much how losing weight works works. But you need to keep in mind that your body USES a certain number of calories a day for basic functions so it's not safe to exercise off ALL your calories...you'll still need at least 1500 just to get through the day. And you'd have to DDR for about 12 hours to burn 2000 calories, just so you know.

You can't possible lose 2000 calories on DDR. I cycle more than 20km on a stationary bike for one hour at effort level 4 and I lose only 300 calories, which is like, less than the calories of one meal! So assuming you are like me, you must exercise for 7 hours to lose 2000 calories. You will be too tired and weak to do that, also, you will use so much time exercising that you have no time to eat.
But, yeah, if you lose more calories than what you take in, you will lose weight. You can eat 3 square meals a day, no snacking, which will add up to 1200 calories and then exercise for 15 to 30 min daily, you will lose weight for sure. And in a healthy way too.

you have to spend more calories than eat during the day to lose weight.
But... dont count calories burned doing exercises because there is no way you can know it precisely.
your body needs 50cal/day just for functioning (like when you are in coma) and thats 1200cal day (for person under 150lbs).
all you have to do is find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories/day you need to maintain - take 3-500cal off that number and thats how many you need to lose weight (fat).
all you have to count is daily intake calories and time doing cardio which should be average of 45min 4-6 days a week.
