I'm sure there's more to this story than you've put forth here. No, if you are overweight and increase your intake of calories and do not exercise, you will not lose weight. In fact, don't be surprised to find that your bathroom scale keeps going up. Now if you spread out the same calories you eat at 3 meals per day into 5-6 small meals and exercise, you will begin slowly losing weight.
Another scenario is that you cut out processed and high carb foods and replace those with all of the green vegetables you can devour and you can eat more and lose weight--even more so if you incorporate (here's that nasty word, again)--exercise.

Well, both. Overall you need less calories than you use up daily from your metabolism Here's the catch though: the body's metabolism slows down when deprived of food, as a preservation tactic. So the worst thing to do is skip meals. Instead eat 5 or 6 small meals (snacks, but healthy), spread every 3 hours apart. This "tricks" your body and keeps the metabolism higher, enabling you to lose weight more easlily. And it feels better than starving. BTW, exercise will speed the metabolism too, so make sure to walk 3-4 miles every day or something similar. Good luck.

I wouldn't really worry about losing weight early on. I personally lost over 10 lbs in a week during my first trimester and I started out weighing only 115 lbs. I was so sick that I couldn't eat or drink anything and had to be hospitalized 3 times and finally had to have a Picc Line placed in my arm for 24 hour IV fluids and IV Zofran from home for almost 2 months. It wasn't until week 13 that I could finally eat food on my own. My OB told me that it didn't matter what I ate initially as long as I could eat some form of food. He didn't care if it was cupcakes and cookies as long as I got something to stay in my body. From week 13 1/2 to 14 1/2 I gained 6 lbs, which still kept me under my pre pregnancy weight. It wasn't until this week...week 15 that I finally hit my original weight of 115 lbs. Your baby will take the nutrients it needs from your body. You'll be the one left depleted. My suggestion to you is that you eat anything that sounds good to you at all. Even if it's not the healthiest thing. Also, if you are having a problem with nausea and vomiting ask your doctor to prescribe you something. I tried Phenegran and Reglan pills at first which didn't help me. Then I went to Zofran pills, which is the only thing that allows me to be able to eat and drink. Good luck to you!

you have to eat to lose fat because when you deprive your body all you lose is water weight and muscle NOT fat and slow down your metabolism. after the age of 30 people lose 10% of muscle in decade if they dont exercise regularly anyway (4% if you do) - so dont starve yourself.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Yes, eat more....Of what is healthy. Starving the body makes it think it is in trouble and it will only store the weight. If you increase your amount of protein, you will not be as hungry. If you really are serious about losing, than you must incorporate exercise with the diet. Good Luck!!

Only if you are eating healthy foods. Consider that 1 cup of blueberries is about 80 cals, where as a standard size bar of chocolate is ~210 cals. Make several substitutions a day for healthier alternatives and you can both cut calories and increase portions. Measure portions, count calories.

"To lose weight I should eat more' is definitely false statement!
I would say you better take balance diet and avoid much intake of carbohydrates. To be successful with your goal in reducing your weight, I suggest that you take a walk for 20-30 minutes a day.

my wife has low blood sugar and the doctor told her to eat every 2 hours to keep the blood sugar at a good level. she began to loose weight because she ate less food more often and she was not feeling bloated so she was able to go walking or whatever.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.
