I'm sorry for your loss. As an American vet, I had the distinct pleasure of serving with several of your Air Force personel in our AWACS wing. I have the utmost respect for your armed forces. Unfortunately many of my fellow citizens would be challenged to find Canada on a map, let alone be aware that your military is deployed alongside ours in the war on terror. The consequences of an over-entertained populace, I suppose.

It is sad to hear that. People in society, especially the United States, really doesn't care that much about what is going on outside of their own realm. Most people are mainly worried about their own problems, then their family or loved ones problems, then it goes on to the city/state, then country. The further away from the individual the less they really care. Or if it is something that isn't on CNN or Fox news. The world can be over if your boss yells at you, but all the starvation in Africa really doesn't make it into their mind. Even when you hear of some tragedy on the news you might think of it for a few moments and then *pop* gone. Sorry again to hear for your loss. I for one will think on this, for I have loss many friends and family, but with the rough reality, you will be one of many that I hope find resolution to your pain.

I am an American and know that the Canadians are fighting ever as bravely as us. Sadly half of the yanks here are more worried about Paris Hilton than the war.

Canadians have been very involved in Afghanistan....and have always stepped up as UN peacekeepers or to help their allies ..whether the US in Gulf War I or the Brits in WWI and WWII.

I feel for you.
but to answer your question, we don't know because our papers don't even cover what our own soldiers are doing. If all you see is the mainstream US media, you'd think our own soldiers aren't fighting in Iraq, just driving around waiting to get blown up.
Before you ask, No, I don't know how stupid one has to be to believe that, but many sure seem to.

Ah, but, just think. Gasoline is now only $75 a barrel. May your cousin rest in peace.
