ive been a tech in south florida and now in the chicago area. Best bet is Advantix for Dogs and feline Advantage. Frontline is crap. Advantix is for fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. Advantage is fleas and ticks. Both are great products. But if your house has both cats and dogs and they play together.. you may want to have the dogs on Advantage also.. advantix cannot be metabolized by cats so if they get it on them, bad neurological consequences.

Frontline is best because it prevents ticks, too. Advantage & Revolution are good products, but dont protect against ticks. Ticks are just as much of a concern as fleas in Texas, and can carry dangerous blood parasites & Lyme disease. BioSpot is an older flea medicine that isnt used much anymore. It's not as good as the others. Do not rely on any over the counter flea control such as Hartz, that stuff doesnt work well and can be toxic to cats if your dog comes in contact with them. Some dogs also have allergic reactions to it.

Lucky you, no fleas in Nevada...I think I'm moving there! Seriously though, now you're going to encounter them, the best protection is Frontline Plus as it kills both fleas and ticks.

That's important because ticks carry Lyme Disease and other nasties that you don't want. Just one application a month will keep the little critters at bay!

Good luck with your move, hope you enjoy Texas!

Frontline and Advantage are both excellent and non-toxic. Bio spot is toxic, and we see a few cats with seizures every year after it has been used on them! Hartz products are the worst you can buy!

on an identical time as the greater moderen flea products (FrontLine and income) are very sturdy, if the numbers of fleas interior our surroundings are truly intense, then you will see fleas on your animals . . . those products do no longer "repel" fleas yet will kill those that get on your puppy. So, in the journey that your canine/cat walks by way of your backyard (or abode) and there are hundreds of fleas there . . . the bugs will leap on your animal . . . particular, they are going to be killed later yet they're going to nonetheless have the bugs on them (eeewww!). So, the substantial to controlling fleas for the period of a bumper crop year is to handle our surroundings besides because of the fact the puppy. Use a sturdy insecticidal spray on your place and backyard. in case you pick the "fogger-form" sprays, verify you spray the place those do no longer attain (under the beds, under tables, sofas, etc.). Vacuum nicely in the previous and after the treatment and throw the vacuum luggage away (the fleas will hatch out of the luggage). whilst treating your backyard, do no longer difficulty spraying interior the aspects that get a lot of solar, spray interior the shady aspects or damp (mulched) aspects. you are able to desire to repeat the environmental administration in 2 weeks to break the existence cycle of the flea. there is one degree that no spray can kill (pupal degree). The little sucker are purely approximately in a bomb shield in the time of the pupal degree and no insecticide cn penetrate the shell. those will hatch out in 2 week cycles, so as this is why this is substantial to repeat the environmental treatment. you are able to could desire to do this quite a few circumstances at 2 week periods. talk with your community veterinarian approximately efficient and secure pesticides that paintings i your component to the rustic.

there are fleas everywhere...
and in my experience, frontline is THE best - just do it a few days before the bath so the greasy spot will be washed away
