I just got a notice in the mail, that I will not be able to renew my drivers license because I have two tickets (warrants) out. That was a very busy time in my life, but I really thought I had taken care of them. So my question is can that precinct do that? Wow it has been over 7 years. Many thanks to all. SilverStar

OK so do you have any kind of paperwork from the year 2000. I do have tax related records, house records and even some other receipts for other tickets. These tickets are from a constable for the county and not for the city. Now I know I have renewed my license before, why didnt they put a stop then? They told me I will have to show them I had insurance for that car or I will have to pay that ticket. Also I have used that address most of my life and I did not receive any thing in the mail, they still at least do that right??? thanks for your questions!!!!!!!!!!!!! bub bye

Records are easy to save these days. Go to court, give the judge a sob story, maybe he will reduce the fine, and then get on the payment plan.

2000? That's not exactly ancient history, is it? Of course they have the records. You were busy that year. And that's an excuse because? You think you took care of them. OK. No problem. Personal financial papers should always be kept for at least 7 years. You should have, and be able to find, proof that you've already paid. No problem. The simple fact is that police have neither the time nor the manpower to go out and find people who don't pay minor tickets. And why should they? They know you will eventually come to them...to get a new driver's license.
