I believe it.
Think about it - for decades China (as in Made in China) has been happily accepting America's money to produce cheap crap for the US. China then takes our money and invests it in their infrastructure to make them stronger.
I even heard that China will build low-quality trains to sell to the US and will buy our high-quality trains for their own use. I think America is going to be getting a "wake-up call" soon and it is going to be too late to recover from years of poor decision-making.

It all depends, who knows what will happen. China is a massive country with a population that is going to start demanding certain rights and freedoms as it becomes richer and more educated. Plenty of chinese students get to see the outside world and will take this back with them.
The chances of there being some kind of civil war are quite high, the govt has attempted to keep regionalism down and things like this, so it may just be a "the people" vrs the government type war, who knowns, if the govt can keep the people down then maybe it won´t happen.
Certainly a country with 1/6 of the worlds population has the ability to become a world super power, and the US is on the decline. But then 200 years ago who would have predicted that the US would be a world super power, or that England would lose its empire? That happened because of things outside of its control, and the US took advantage, the same could happen again.

yes within 20 years or so. although 50 years sounds more reasonable cuz right now it looks like america isn't in a downfall yet.
china, on the other hand, has a strong economy and military and is on the rise. so don't be surprised if you people see china obtain world super power status by 2050 or so

Every country wants to be the next world super power, correct? But I have to tell you this. My dad was in WWII and always kept up on politics and had an uncanny ability to predict what country was going to do what and when. He died 6 years ago, and one or probably the last conversation we had on politics he told me, "People better watch out for China; mark my words. They will be the downfall of our world." So, all these years I've actually been waiting to hear what you are asking. So, for once, I hope my dad is wrong. He said they have always pretended to be in the background, but have probably always been planning something big to try to take us down. He thought more than likely, nuclear war. Thanks for letting me tell someone this. Sorry I wasn't more to the point concerning the current agenda.

China is already a superpower and we are so bogged down in Iraq this administration seems not to see it. If China called in all the notes the US owes them the US would be bankrupt. I think in the next 25 years China is going to invade the US and win.

Are you kidding me??? China isn't even close to to being a superpower!! you're thinking like an fool!! you spot.... whilst the media places out bulletins like "China owns the U. S." - what they propose is that of each and every of the international locations that we owe money to, China has the biggest share! And the only reason the chinese language provide us money is that we "tell" them to. (we don't "ASK" them) China is boogey guy and the U. S. will take them down, the comparable way they took down the eastern, economically, a decade in the past! the U. S. defense force is a minimum of, (and that's my estimate) 40 to 50 years earlier than the chinese language defense force. Our GDP is two and a a million/2 circumstances the dimensions of China's. (and China has rather much 4 circumstances as many human beings as we do!) So, the thought China is by some ability going to take over the U. S. and dominate the international is completely, thoroughly LUDICROUS!!! shifting directly to custom. each and every guy, woman and new child is uncovered to and has been affected by American custom in one way or yet another! China can't even come close to to doing that! commute for the duration of Asia.... you will comprehend that maximum non - chinese language Asians look down on chinese language custom. they are rather lots a comedian tale in Asia! (Non chinese language Asians get truly indignant in case you mistake them to be chinese language - "i'm no longer chinese language"!! is the fast respond!). the common stereotypes linked with the chinese language are grimy, stupid and uncultured. commute to Asia and you will comprehend that that's overwhelmingly genuine. and finally, they are no longer even a superpower in Asia! Their neighbours to the south - INDIA - additionally are interior the race for that call. China first desires to of course set up itself as an area potential, and then it may think of of taking on the states! i in my opinion sense that the age of "the superpower" is long gone! there'll now no longer be ONE us of a that stands proud from something. we are able to stay in a multipolar international. however the vast gamers can actual be pointed out now - us of a, China, India.... and probably some others besides.

it has the potential to be a superpower it has a lot of natural resourses and a HUGE population however like many other countries it is all up to the government. Like mexico they have no reason to be as broke as they are they have gold silver oil land ports and much much more but the government does not take advantage of it. What makes america so powerful is that we use the resourses we have and a huge factor that comes into play is our weapons. Most of what america produces is just weapons everything else is imported.

I think they already are a superpower - economically, politically and militarily. They consume in excess of 40% of the worlds natural resources and they don't get a shite about polution. They are hypocrtical commies who could have the largest army if they wanted to. They spy, cheat and steal secrets from the west without fear.
I am the Fringe and China has yet to flex it's muscle.

With between 15% and 20% of the total world population, compared to the US at under 5%..... a pretty good bet.
Add to that a huge economic base and a strong military.....
