Not necessarily. Your body will still take in the calories as the food moves through your system. You'll only be messing with your bowels with laxatives.

Can you say "eating disorder"?
The only safe way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. The only safe way to stay at your present weight is to consume the same amount of calories that you burn.
If you start barfing up food or using laxatives, you will screw up your digestive system so badly. After a while you won't be able to function without a laxative. Don't get started doing something this stupid.
Eat sensibly. Stay away from junk food. Replace white bread with 100% whole wheat bread. Have sugary stuff only once in a while as a treat.

Hi-your question is kind of scary..you seem to be willing to sacrifice your health for a quick fix. You are looking for a quick and easy way to keep from gaining weight. THERE IS NO QUICK AND EASY WAY, but fortunately it is not rocket science. Just spend my calories then you take in. That means watch what you eat to prevent the weight gain and then do some sort of exercise. And I am guessing you are quite young. To define yourself through someone else is a real teen thing. I sure hope you are a teen. Don't be Greg's girl. BE YOURSELF!!!!

No. Laxatives and induced vomiting are not effective ways to prevent weight gain b/c they don't get rid of everything that's in there. Using laxatives more than recommended can lead to an insufficient anal sphincter, which means you'd leak poop uncontrollably. Think about that before you start taking laxatives as a weight control aid.

Actually, taking laxatives on a regular basis will make you lose weight, as I personally know someone who has used this method as a "diet". The problem with this is...your body will get so used to laxatives that when you try to get off of them, you'll stay constipated and will not be able to take a poop without them. I've heard that its pretty hard to kick the exlax habit, and they don't have rehabs for stupid people who want to lose weight by shittin all the time. :)

You might or might not prevent weight gain, but you are subscribing to whole other set of problems. Do yourself a favor and don't take laxatives at all. Try going for a walk instead.

remember
laxative = negative
don't do it
Do - calculate your daily caloric needs - and reduce by 15% -
if you want to lose weight
Walk 30 minutes - 4 days a week
Drink - 1/2 oz water per pound of body weight each day
(e.g. - me at 256 lbs needs 128 oz of water = 1 gallon)
and space your calories out to 6 meals a day - keep that fire burning -
here's a good calorie website
best of luck

that's a very bad thing to get into,it will keep you from gaining weight,it will cause you to lose weight,i believe thinking about doing laxatives for this purpose is the first sign of impending anorexia nervosa which kills 75%of the women who chose to go down that path...don't do it..my wife used to do that all the time and it almost killed her then,..now she has permanent kidney damage and a compromised immune system..print this out and definitly talk to a physician about this... good luck heed the warning ...
