We don't get upset at others having their own beliefs, we get upset at others for forcing their beliefs via law onto us using a population majority as justification. If atheists were in charge, they would let you believe whatever you wanted as long as it did not interfere with the rights of others.
Also, we live in a republic not a democracy... our country is split into regions where population AND contribution to economy matter, and we live in a country based on freedom of religion.

Well, since you religious types keep insisting on interfering with my daughers' rights to choose, and keep trying to force public schools to mis-inform my grandchildren regarding evolutionary theory, I'm afraid I have to keep tearing down your faith. As for being a productive member of society - I have paid more into this country in one year than you will earn in a lifetime. I have saved lives. And I still give, though I'm now quite an old man. What have you done for your country lately? Any time in the Armed Forces? Any time as a volunteer firefighter? No? Then who do you think you are denegrating MY service? HEY! There's a Armed Forces recruiter right down the street from you. Go prove you're a man and not a wuss and sign up! I did; now it's your turn. Put up or shut up!

Your argument makes no sense. Separation of Church and State allows you to have your religion. You don't have to leave. Just keep your religion out our laws. You say, "sure we shouldn't be imposing our beliefs onto a country forcing others to live under my structure..." If you KNOW it's wrong, then stop! Don't justify it in the name of democracy! That's absurd. Atheists are a productive section in society. They'd be an even more productive section if people like you weren't impeding them at every turn.

It is not about tearing down other people's beliefs.
Just because we live in a democracy doesn't mean that majority rule is right and proper in all cases. Civil rights would never have been given if majority rule was the only way this country gets things done. Further, the majority isn't always right, and is often unjust.
As for being a "productive member of society," you don't know ANYTHING about me. You have no idea who I am outside this stupid little forum.
I don't care what you believe. But, your beliefs do not give you the rigth to take away individual freedoms you deem immoral.

40 years to make a difference? Wow you expect to die within 40 years.. I plan on living at least 80 if not more with the help of modern medical science..
I have years and years to make a difference, if that means helping to open eyes to a different way of thought than that taught in ancient books so be it, if that means defending myself and others from religious fanaticism so be it.. I am making a difference..
Now lets talk about why you cling to ancient beliefs when there are so many contradiction in the ancient book they come from...
Speaking of said ancient book doesn't it state, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Matthew 7:1
Are you not judging whether or not my life is productive right now?
For a person so eager to throw the first stone you sure don't understand your own ancient fairytale book..

Maybe if people would stop trying to shove their religion down people's throats and let others believe how they want to with out their judgement then we would leave them alone. I don't like it when I am sitting on my porch, minding my own business and along comes a jesus freak telling me I'm going to go to hell because I don't belong to their religion, or to their church.
We should not have to accept your ways and your beliefs, we have a mind of our own and we intend to use it instead of following blindly. We should not have to leave, I was born an American and will die an American.
According to christians, no one knows the day or year that your precious lord will come for all you, so how do you figure it is only 40 years? It doesn't really matter, since it will never happen.
I don't tear down anyone's beliefs, until they try to shove it down my throat. They could believe in the Fuzzbuckets for all I care, just leave me alone and let me believe what I feel is right in my heart, and I will let you believe what is right in your heart.

So what you are saying is that we are not seperating church and state, that that is not being accomplished. Well my friend we don't live in a dictatorship but a democracy so I think you shouldn't force others to live by your standards.
You actually only have about 40 years too, to make a difference on this planet since you are going to die and leave also. Even if you go to heaven you aren't going to help this planet much from up there.
And yes, it does bother me that someone wants to live by a particular moral code, when they are trying to get arcaic code taught in our schools and want science classes to be taught by Biblical theory.

got news for you the constitution provides freedom of belief not control by Christians. I'm an atheist and I don't tear down any religion entirely in fact I support most morals and seek to find common ground within all religions and ethical/moral codes
unlike yourself by likely chances. I'm a productive member of society not a proponent of the industrial war complex the church and state has been seperate since the inception of this government and since I live for life not death I don't like to cheapen it welcome to reality .

I don't tear down other people's beliefs, I simply state my own.
A democracy is not a theocracy, in case you didn't know that. There needs to be a wall of separation between church and state. Your religion is just one of many, and should not be the basis of laws and policies.

I take it that you are a Christian. One that has had something said to them that they didn't take very lightly. But you know there are alot of Christians on here pushing what they belive. And you know Atheists are just on here doing the same. Not saying that I agree with them....but that's pretty much it.
Whenever I get discouraged Because I can't persuade someone of the truth of the gospel, I remind myself that we are never going to convince those who don't want to be convinced.

I do not see myself as oppressing religion. There is a friggin' Church on every corner in the U.S., how is religion in general and Christians in particular oppressed.
You can live by your moral code so long as it does not infringe on my moral code. You can worship your God in the correct place for it, your Church.
