About a week ago, I went to the dentist for a cleaning. They said there were several "small" cavities that they had to touch up. Does this mean they're going to put a sealant on or actually fill them in? Also, I've had several fillings in the past without Novocaine because I was afraid to get one. The drill was absolutely HORRIBLE. However, the last time I went, I asked for the shot. I didn't even really feel the shot, and it was SO much less painful. I'm really concerned because I'm not sure if the cavities are in the same region as previous ones. I also don't know how many they're going to fill. Will I need more than one shot? Does the shot hurt if they're towards the front of my mouth? AHHH!

Well honey I had filling done today, lol.
I had the shot but they gave me like three because my body was resisting it or something like that because I was SCARED.

Let me tell you that before you do the filling talk to your dentist and find out what exactly they are planning to do.Next get a second opinion[do this no matter how good your dentist is].

It didnt hurt so dont be teriffied. And I know about being terrified.I had to have an extraction and the tooth was partially removed , it wasn't properly done ,and after chewing on the dentist till he let go his 'weapon of mass destruction',I told myself I would never visit the dentist again. But I did[I have a new one though a female who is gentle and sweet]Total opposite of what the previous was like.

Anyways I had more reason to be scared because my first dentist did not give me novacaine and i was having an extraction. So dont be terrified honey. You will only feel a slight pinch and if they do have to give you a second shot you won't feel it.

I am currently in no pain whatsoever and I left the office 8-9hrs ago.

Smile it'll be okay!

You said a lot, but didn't ask much in the way of questions. If they need to do fillings on multiple teeth, then yes, they will most likely need to give you more than a single shot. Yes, the injections do pinch more the more you move towards the front of the mouth. But I am sure it will go just fine, and as you learned, it is much easier to get the freezing than it is to endure drilling without the freezing.

the shot just hurt for a second but as u feel numb, ders no more pain. you shud get use to the drill bcoz thats part of a dentists gadget, ders no alternative. if the dentist said, they need to touch up cavities, maybe you should be sure if your teeth is not aching, because if its patch up but aching. the bacteria in your cavities will just cause aching and it may lead to the growth of so many bacteria that will make you feel uncomfortable about your tooth. that will cost you another expenses. bacteria in your cavities that causes toothache will have a remedy of rootcanal to save the tooth and not to extract it. if your not sure if the cavities are in the same spot or not, well your dentist could tell you where they were if you will let her see it. =)

Don't worry! calm down a little bit!
Depending on the cavity damage, they can do different fillings, but either way you shouldn't feel them at all! You can get how ever many shots to make the pain milder. You will only feel a slight pinch when they give you the shot, but the rest will be a breeze.
Good luck
