http://ask.yahoo.com/20070130.html Gay % of the population

You do the math. Why so much hand-wringing over gays with so many extra marital affairs? 22% & 15% of 97% of the population dwarfs the number of gays by a long shot. Even if only half get married, the numbers still dwarf they gay population.

Because even if they're unfaithful to their wives or husbands, they can tell themselves, "At least I'm not gay."

Whenever there's a group that is more despised than you, it makes you feel like you haven't hit bottom. Here's the truth, though: We all have our own bottom. They're deluding themselves, causing suffering, and avoiding the issues that led them to cheat.

Seriously only 3% of the pop are gay? The media made it out to be like 25% or something. I know this is not the question, but I always thought it was much higher.

And yes as far as bringing down the family value and screwing up the children, the divorced parents are much better at that then the 3% of gays.

First off, how selfish of you, I would love to win the lottery and live on a Yacht surrounded by servants but I am not going to pretend to be someone I am not because of the "American Dream" Good grief snap out of it!! The year is 2008. You can marry a man now and either adopt or surrogate a child and you can also buy a home with a white picket fence for you and your husband. Now you do this and raise your child in a "truly healthy and all around loving" environment. Not one that is a sham!

Perhaps it has something to do with the past and religion. Back in the day, men were dominant. It was alright for men to have an affair with one or more other women. (Notice that men do more of the cheating than women). Polygamy was considered somewhat normal back then.
As for homosexuality, because of religion, back then it was considered a "sin" and a "crime against nature".
So, it seems that people are just living in the past.
People need to realize that being gay doesn't hurt anyone and that cheating does.

The 10% gay figure is simply unsupported. The 2-3% is more solid. The question does not imply gays are not men and women, merely that they are unmarried. The 15% figure is generally thought to be low.

Because religious people believe that marriage is a holy union only to be bonded between a man and a woman.

Logically, it shouldn't matter and the religions that do accept it should do it. It should not be a state matter at all.

you know, that almost implies that gays aren't men and women.

i see your point, and i'm all for gay marriage, but there's no guarantee gay people won't end up with the same divorce rates. now i do think that the first big generation to get married after the laws are passed will have lower divorce rates, just because they've had to fight so hard for the right. they're more likely to fight just as hard to hang onto it.

but a few generations down the line, and the divorce rates will be just the same. gay people are people just like us. no better, no worse.

Haha, I find this so funny... because even being a straight cheater is much more acceptable to society where people have always been straight, and where cheating has much less of stigma than it used to be... Sometime, when being GLBT acceptable to society, then things will change somehow...

Actually, about 10% of the population is homosexual. However, many will not admit it because of the horrible society in which we live.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Some people dont know how to put themselves in someone else's shoe.

50% of Christian marriages end in divorce.

Yet they still need to point fingers at what is wrong with other people's lifestyles.
