Excerpt from article:
"A man making a trip from Puerto Rico to South Florida to raise money for his religious education remains hospitalized Monday after he was struck down by a bolt of lightning which flew from clear blue sky on Sunday. He was selling religious materials when he was hit."
Sounds like ironic coincidence to me... but I'm agnostic.
What do y'all think?

No. He loves everyone.
He tells us to go into all the world and share the good news to everyone, not just all those who believe what we believe.
Jesus even loves agnostics.

Well, IF there is an 'adversary' who can manipulate the weather, lightning, thunderclouds, drought(s); it could have been that foe causing harm to a man who was seeking God's Kingdom. As I read the story, he was raising money for his education (selling religious materials) and out of the blue whammo !!! Laid up in hospital bed.
A little known traditional (anecdotal) tidbit about Job is: his children were killed when gathered to eat and a tremendous wind from all FOUR directions collapsed the house. We are ignorant and smug to discount the forces at work via nature to: assist us and harm us...and God does not manipulate all of it.
A general rule of thumb is: The greater the potential for being important to the Kingdom; the greater will be the forces to dissuade, discourage and cause dispair of that woman or man.
And a resounding 'no' God doesn't hate prosletyzers. The 'foe' probably does.

how interesting. If he had died on the spot I might could argue he was such a good Christian that God was calling him home right that minute for his good deeds. But since that is not the case I can not say that. It is a good story, but not my place to try and guess what God is up to. I wouldn't worry about it to much. The guy sounds like he will make it to heaven, so either way he will be ok. What about you?

Friend: God only hates a spirit of selfish selfcenteredness. He hates no being that he has created.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But it does seem almost like poetic justice, does it not? Self-righteousness is not a virtue.
