People are easily misled and things do not always appear as they truly are. The KKK movement had its appeal at times and it had nothing to do with racist beliefs. It is actually fascinating to study its origins and different incarnations.

I think people want to believe the best in people and have "tolerance" drummed into our head all day long. That is why it is so hard to call evil what it is and to stand up against radical or hate groups such as CAIR and the ACLU... because people WANT to believe they are good groups doing good work. But they're not. Only until it is too late will some people decide to stand up against evil. It usually then ends with massive loss of life and destruction. But such is the cycle of human existence.
