It is difficult to imagine how the gift of a book could be interpreted as a "violation", especially if the intent was to share a message of "good news" as true Christians (such as Jehovah's Witnesses) work to do.
Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.
(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.
(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house
It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?
(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

A few years ago I was approached by a Hare Krishna in the parking lot of an IHOP in the middle of Kansas (and no,... I'm not making this sh!t up)...:-))
He was a very polite guy, as I thought a Hare Krishna might be, and he was not at all overbearing or long-winded with his religious spiel.
In the end, he offered me a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. I was expecting him to ask for a donation, - but he didn't; I feel this may have been because I was at least willing to give him a kind moment of my time.
I gave him $5 anyway, - and off he went.
My copy of the Bhagavad Gita now sits alongside the rest of my books on philosophy and religion and, at times, I have used it for a reference.
My point is:
Keeping an open mind does not mean you have to sacrifice any of the beliefs which you have faith in, - or any of the doctrines which you now follow;...
... knowledge is knowledge...
Now,...
... I'm just waiting for the day I get approached by LaVeyan Satanists while eating chicken-fingers at the Hooters located in the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN...

Hello, Blondie:
I don't think you were violated because you could have said: "No Thanks!" They have been challenged so many times, that they are actually surprised when people take their publications.
I feel they are "batting practice" for people with the truth. Why do I say that? because Satan accustomed people to slam the door in the face of solicitors. The more we slam, the easier it gets. And everyone knows how ridiculous their doctrines are, like letting someone die because they think a transfusion, that saves lives, is eating blood--hardly any digestive acids in your veins.
But let us say there is an eternal-life and death issue that the people need to make a positive decision on. You have been so accustomed to slamming the door that you might miss the message.
I suggest you offer up a little silent prayer during your conversations with solicitors. Let God move you to make the right decision.
Speaking of important issues, there is a Bible code you may need. Don't feel violated, it's at http://abiblecode.tripod.com
Blessings and AGAPE, Balaam

How can that be anything negative? I mean if a Muslim gave me the Qur'an I wouldn't say I have been violated, I would think, "Okay, hmmm, now I don't ever have to worry about buying it"
Someone telling you their beliefs does not constitute persecution. Someone making you believe as they do does.

He is allowed to do this, just as you are allowed to tell him what you think, in terms of both your own philosophy and your opinion of HIS beliefs.
I know it's a nuisance, but many of them mean well. They think their way will save you from certain peril, so they want to help. Yes, it's mixed in with closed-mindedness much of the time, but that doesn't change the fact that they want the best.
Just deal with it, I suppose.

No.
You choose not to refuse the book or give it back to them. Giving someone something with out payment is considered a gift.

Jehovah's witnesses apparently have no sense of personal space. They will walk right through your door and hand you garbage literature.

it never hurts to test the spirit, just ask them if they believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. If they try to force their opinion onto you, politely explain your beliefs, tell them the only way to heaven is through Jesus and excuse yourself. Some people just wont listen, but at least you can't say that you didn't try. Everyone gets at least one chance in their life to accept Jesus into their heart, that may have been his chance.

Think Environmentally friendly...coaster! Recycle! Make a tree out of it, or spread peanutbutter over it and give it to the dog!

Why would you witness to him?
Generally, I am happy when people give me free books. Frankly, I don't understand why anyone has problem with JW evangelism. It's a free country, and you don't have to answer the door.
