A christians, God sent us his holy spirit to guide us on our spiritual journey. Why do then put all that power in the hands of another human being? Why learn someone else's view point when you can form your own?

The Bible is written such that anyone that studies it can understand it. The qualifications for a pastor or elder is given in the N.T. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. All Christians are priests 1Peter 2:9.

Then why does the New Testament tell us to submit to, and financially support, our Earthly spiritual leaders?

------------------------------------
Hebrews 13:17
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Ephesians 4:10-12
He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

1 Timothy 5:17-19
The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages." Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.

1 Corinthians 9:7-12
Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk? Do I say this merely from a human point of view? Doesn't the Law say the same thing? 9For it is written in the Law of Moses: "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." Is it about oxen that God is concerned? Surely he says this for us, doesn't he? Yes, this was written for us, because when the plowman plows and the thresher threshes, they ought to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest. If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you? If others have this right of support from you, shouldn't we have it all the more?

James 3:1-2
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

Priests and Pastors are simply shepherds guiding their flock.

If learning everything on our own was the answer then we'd end up with millions of different viewpoints on the same thing. Who would be right then? Besides, God called Priests and Pastors for the very specific purpose to teach and guide His children.

The office of Priest was abolished after Jesus went to Heaven. He is the only Priest we have or need.

Hebrews 4:14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Pastors on the other hand are to teach and look after and guard the flock of believers that God places in their care.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Pastors equip by teaching so that we can mature in our faith.
Anyone who says pastors are not needed are disregarding what the Bible says.

We no longer need clergy. Period. We can read and learn for ourselves, and we're each responsible for our own spiritual life.

The Bahá'í Faith is the youngest monotheistic religion, and we have no clergy. We all have the ability to read, study, learn. Clergy are not the only ones, everyone can do this. Much better to seek for ourselves instead of accepting what a priest says without further investigation, dontcha think?

Each to their own. Some people like being led, they like having a pastor or priest tell them what they're supposed to be thinking and doing.

I personally see no point. I prefer to think for myself.

Because God, if she exists, simply isn't capable of communicating with her creations directly. Sure, she can fart galaxies out her butt and can create duck-billed platypi out of thin air, but somehow she simply can't deal with her creatures one-on-one.

Therefore, God needs a really, really complicated hierarchy of priests and cardinals and bishops and rooks and the Pope Himself who has a magical telephone he uses to talk to God directly. And, in her wisdom, she ordered her Special God Squad to burn at the stake (or ex-communicate) anybody bold enough to actually think for themselves.

Or something like that ;)

I certainly understand your point. When Jesus walked the Earth He had the apostles walk with him. They weren't perfect but were instructed and expected to teach and were there to spread the Word. Chaos otherwise would reign. The Lord wants organisation.
