I doubt that you will recover your costs. Nice french doors are expensive. Less expensive doors do not have the eye appeal and will not get you as much on the selling end.

A couple of exceptions. If your home is a bit more upscale and the sliding doors do not fit with the rest, an upgrade will help. This is not a matter of improving the overall appeal of the house, simply removing a detracting factor.

If the existing doors are fogged, you need to replace them with something. When you consider the additional cost of replacing with a french door unit vs a similar slider, you are probably getting into the realm of costs that you could recover and possibly a bit more. The same argument would hold true if the door is in an area that buyers are likely to use the door in the course of viewing the house and it does not operate smoothly. These are also detracting factors, this kind of defect may indicate that you have not maintained the home well otherwise.

Probably a little....french doors are more expensive, but some people prefer the sliding doors because they don`t take up as much room. It would depend on the tastes of the buyer. If you already have sliding doors, it wouldn`t pay you to install french doors just to sell the house.

Yes. Aesthetics draw ppl and the doors are something ppl will notice immediately. If the doors are a little more upscale (and french doors are) then ppl will automatically think that other things are a little higher quality.
The price difference between the two is insignificant.
Hope this helps.

I would think so. You get to lose the drapes, and the french doors would be more attractive, right? Just make sure that you go to the proper security procedures. French doors are easy to break into.

In the big scheme of things, very little. However it might make the house more attractive to a buyer, so it might be worth it. However, as stated above, they are a security risk.
