I want to play a British game on a NA PS2 with a NA TV.

I heard that regions codes are different than the NSTC & PAL distinction...

So, if I want to play a PAL game I'll need an PAL -> NSTC adaptor, a TV with a vertical hold, a mod chip or boot disk for the region.

Can anyone confirm from experience?

Thanks!

Buy chip, that allows to run non-genuine games. I had a japanese version of PS2. Than I installed that chip, after that I could run PAL games.
