So, now you are agreeing with King Solomon.
Do I hear an old tune by "The Byrds" wafting by in the sumer air ...........?
---------------------------
1 The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:
2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!"
says the Teacher.
"Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless."
3 What does man gain from all his labor
at which he toils under the sun?
4 Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.
5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.
6 The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.
7 All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.
8 All things are wearisome,
more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.
9 What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which one can say,
"Look! This is something new"?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.
11 There is no remembrance of men of old,
and even those who are yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow.
~Ecclesiastes 1 (NIV)

Death has always been humanity's enemy. It brings loneliness, sadness, disorientation. But it need not be a mystery nor be entirely devastating. Even though it is inevitable, death is not the end. Though at times death seems unfair and arbitrary, it does not thwart God's plan for eternal life. Through a resurrection God will reunite us with families and friends and extend His promise to everyone who has ever lived.
In Colossians 1:26-27; 2:2-3) tells us that God wants to give us an everlasting, eternal, immortal life free from human limitations and disappointments and death.
Revelation 21 and 22) tells us that those who receive eternal life will be a family, children of God, with community-like relationships in the New Jerusalem. Relationship principles that God is now, today, teaching us will be applicable there. That is why God wants us to learn and apply His ways in our lives now.
God assures us that His promise of eternal life is more than worth the effort, struggles, and disappointments of life and death; " Therefore do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at things which are seen, but at things which are not seen. For the things which are seen is temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal " (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
When all is said and done, we must have faith that eternal life is worth anything we might be required to endure to receive it (Romans 8:18; Philippians 3:12-14).
Understanding the meaning of life and death and what follows this physical life can give comfort and hope in the face of death. It should also have a impact on the kind of person you are, motivating you to live carefully and make wise choices. Knowing that the purpose of life is to prepare you for an eternal life of power and ability beyond anything you can imagine shouls encourage you to turn to God so He can begin to fulfill His purpose in you.
God Bless.

The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament wondered the same thing.
Do this, figure out what you want to be on your tombstone or to be what people say about you after you are gone.Write your own obituary and live in a way that makes it come true. Life is a terminal disease.
For me?
1. She left the world a little better than when she came in
2. She squeezed every drop out of life

John 3:16
for God so loved the world he gave his ONLY begotten son so that whoever believes in him WILL NOT DIE BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
if our goals are set in the right Man and not the goals of the world, we will not die.

It's even worse than that: we work very hard and the government take a big chunk of our money in taxes, so the government have money to give to those who doesn't want to work, and then those who doesn't want to work live better than us that are the ones working very hard........yeah it's completely pointless!!

No you are right. It seems like endless misery and suffering, boredom and frustration with occasional pleasure or meaning, and then death. However, I am a pretty unhappy person. It is possible that some people enjoy this crap.

please consider this alternative the thought that we "just die any way" --o.k.?
please look up Revelation 7:9-17and then compare this with Psalm37:9-11 and Proverbs 2:21,22
these books point to a LIFE of peace don't they? end of life for the wicked.
these are the promises that God promises for the faithful. please speak to the next jehovah's witness that visits you and this can be explained
thank you

I guess, thats life. Just try to get the most out of it. Wouldn't it be worse if you didnt die and had to do it for all eternity?

What are your goals? To attain wealth? Big toys?
Yeah, that would be a waste.
My goal was to raise a decent family... which I've managed.
Everything else is icing on my cake.

life is not only pointless, life is also meaningless. It has no meaning until you give it meaning. Life is God and God is life! Life is neutral and it needs nothing. It is a playground where we can create, express, demonstrate and experience who we want to be.
