For many people their father is the devil who is the father of lies. They have to lie because it is their nature.

There are alot of reasons why people lie instead of telling the truth. Here's a big reason, some people just don't want to get in trouble. They think that by lying they won't get into trouble. Unfortunatly when you lie you have to remember the lie. Lying is a sin. The truth may be hard and it may hurt but you never have to remember it. It is better to tell the truth then to lie. And for those of you who said I don't lie. That in and of itself is a lie. Every person on earth has told a lie at one time or another.

The true question is why would you rather perpetuate a lie than tell the truth? The answer is because the former requires no independent thought or study.

Because sometimes telling the truth serves no purpose except to hurt or disappoint.
Are you really going to tell a co-worker, classmate, or neighbor that they look awful?
When your kid asks if you know what's inside the wrapped Christmas present, are you going to say "Yes, I can't lie. It's a racing car set" and there is no Santa.
When your friend invites you over for supper or a barbeque, and asks "How's the food?" are you going to say "I can't lie so in order to not hurt your feelings I prefer not to answer".

Most people who lie stand in opposition to God when they lie
The devil and his angels are liars
All people can and will lie but it doesn't make them liars
All have sinned and fell short of God's glory
Those who who want to be delivered from this sin are those who would rather tell the truth and God would help deliver them if they ask Him
Hebrews 6:18 (NIV) God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.

Would you? I much prefer telling the truth. I can't say I never lie. I do it to save people's feelings, like most do. But life is much easier and more pleasant when you tell the truth. So much less to keep track of, don't you think?

If you want to be moral, learn to associate Faith with Lie and Reason with Truth.
We are taught to lie in childhood. Lying is very convenient and always more pleasant than the truth. We can manipulate children and those who believe us only with lies. When we believe in the supernatural, i.e. in the existence of a cosmic consciousness capable of contradicting the laws of physics, chemistry and biology, we happily lie to ourselves because we are afraid to discover what reality might be. We are afraid that death might mean what it means: the end of us. It's more pleasant to believe we'll go on indefinitely and happily, even after death.
Reason is very hard to get. If it were as easy as Faith, the world would be at peace. But most people were taught Faith, not Reason and where it concerns relationship and control of others Faith comes really handy. We cannot manipulate people with Reason, but with Faith we can perform…ehm…miracles!
We teach Faith to the children because it seems so much fun to trick them. Before they can develop their logical thinking, children accept whatever we tell them, true or untrue, invented or magic. We think we can even teach them to behave and be moral, by using lies and deception. If they dare to doubt what we tell them, we scare them into submission and stunt their budding logical thinking with every ready-made answer we have, no matter how contradictory it might be. We think that if we keep them gullible and credulous, they can be managed better. Unfortunately, instead of learning to Reason, they grow up to be Faithful hypocrites.
To be an atheist is only the beginning of Reason. To be religious is to make Reason impossible, because its place will be taken by the dangerous emotion called Faith.
Faith is more dangerous and destructive than anger. The mild and watered-down Faith of the so called religious moderates will not lead them to do anything rash, for sure. The religious moderates SAY they have Faith, but make sure not to practice what they say. Nonetheless, they give voice to those fewer folks who take Faith really seriously and want to live that emotion literally – the so called religious extremists. It takes Faith to believe that our life is incomplete without a mystical, supernatural imaginary being that holds our hand throughout life and tells us what to think, what to eat, when to fast, how to dress, how to worship. It also takes faith to believe that when a comet appears in the sky, it is His sign that beckons us to go "home" and meet Him! That same strong faith makes us believe that it is the will of God that commands us to hijack a plane and fly it into a building to be a martyr and go to paradise. It takes Faith, not Reason to justify any violence.
Whenever we lie to someone we have Faith in the fact that the person will be too unaware and stupid to discover our lies. We can even have Faith in ourselves that we won’t ever accept that reality is what it is and not what we wish it would be.
