Permanent numbness. Seeing and hearing everything. Everything comes into your brain. Every sound. Every color. Every smell. Your skin burns hot, feeling everything around it.

You're responding, but you have no real thoughts in your head.

You just react.

Inside your gut it's like when somebody startles you, but it never goes away.

I imagine it's how a fish feels when it's hooked on a line. You know you can't escape, but you're still struggling out of instinct.

OEF and OIF (that's the one where they were shooting at me).

yes, Desert Storm and this latest disaster, was in the navy stationed aboard USS Okinawa for part 1, and for the second one i was on a 5th fleet minesweeper out of Bahrain , we cleared the channel so tha the british ship Sir Galahad and others could transit into Iraq. I spent a total 26 months in operational theatre that does not include transit time to and from da Gulf.

yes in Afghanistan, it was nerve wracking at times, on patrol you truly find out what being tired truly is, and are exhausted. You also learn to thank god Hajie is not that accurate with his weapons
