Everyone always says i need a suit for interviews.
What if it's too hot for suits?
Don't some people wear khaki pants & short sleeved shirts?
Do some guys wear short sleeved dress shirts or light colored slacks?

I've seen it in a few movies and some youtube videos.

I usually wear a dress shirt & a tie with slacks.
I don't wear jackets.

so basically that's everything in a suit except the jacket. I get too hot in a jacket.

Id still hire someone if they weren't wearing a jacket, as long as your dressed smart and have a good head on your shoulders. (And are right for the job)

This depends on the industry. If you are going to be working in an office, then you need to wear a suit. Hold the jacket until you arrive, but don't skip it outright if you are a college grad. if it's a summer job, you can get by with dark trousers and a white shirt and tie. If it is a more informal position, like a golf course, then by all means, wear the khakis and sport shirt.

Ladies do not have to wear a suit to an interview, unless you're a professional (i.e. attorney or on Wall Street), or unless it is the norm for the other women in the office. Do your research. A dark dress, with the hem close to the knees, not sleeveless, not too tight, is appropriate.

Under no circumstances should you wear jeans to an interview, no matter what your age. Take pride in your appearance. It says a lot about how you will perform your work.

I'm sure some people do, however, I'm sure they aren't the first choice for a job either, unless it's janitorial. Remember that you only have one chance to make a first impression. Do you want that first impression to be khakis and a polo, or do you want it to be more professional? I suggest wearing a suit, if it's too hot for a suit, slacks, a long sleeve dress shirt and a tie are definitely acceptable with appropriate shoes and socks. Yes, you do still need to wear that t-shirt under your long sleeve shirt, sorry. Oh, by the way, short sleeve dress shirts with a tie is soooooo DMV.

That really depends on a lot of factors. For instance, dress appropriate for the position you are applying for. Office staff would be more casual than a sales Representative or sales floor staff. Warehouse personel would be even more casual. Maintenance staff even more laid back(maybe uniforms will be supplied). So use your best guess but dress with CLEAN and PRESSED clothing. Being well groomed and articulate is very important. Stress why you want to work for this particular company and why you are the best choice(what will you bring to the company)? Why should they choose you over the next person. These are some of the things that are just as important as how you dress.

Well said Katie and Nick...all you need to remember is to have CLEAN and well PRESSED clothes that fit the job that you are looking at. Also make sure that you have had a shower before you go, cleanly shaven and well done hair and nails. I know you will say but I am a guy for the nails but trust me as Business Consultant that does assist my client in hiring people those are what are noticed within the first 30 seconds; and, the first 30 seconds are the most important. Those seconds can make or break your chances.

Last but not least remember to smile. Don't use a fake smile though.

When in doubt wear a suit. If you have seen what the company wears or the person who will be interviewing then a dress shirt and tie. Casual for dress for most retail. Good luck

It depends on the type of job. The short answer is, it is NEVER to hot for a suit. Even if a suit in not normal attire once hired, you should wear one to the interview for any office job unless you now for certain the boss prefers otherwise. If you were interviewing for a factor or construction job, your dress should be more like what you would wear to work.

Dress for your bosses job, not for your job.

I think should do just fine in your usual interview attire.

Most companies know how hot it can be. Even a dress shirt and tie will get you the job. I don't think guys wear anything less casual yet. Maybe when my generation starts graying, suits will start looking more casual.

I'm sure you will be okay if you wear something you look good in.

For factory jobs I would go in neat looking jeans and a nice button up shirt.
In office interviews I would always "go with the flow." If I knew that the employer was more laid back then I would dress down a little bit. You can always take the jacket along and not wear it until you are in the lobby.

Yes - pretty much very body who cares to be hired wears a suit. It's the effort of dressing up for the occassion is what counts NOT the attire.
