You mention parvo. Parvo incubates for up to ten days before they start experiencing symptoms of parvo. Small dogs like that are very prone to get big infections. Symptoms of parvo: vomiting, bloody diarrhea, not eating, depressed, etc. Also at that age animals do not have a strong immunity system. Up until they are weaned from their mom they have her immunity then they are on their own. I had a little dog that had parvo and died on 4/19 this year. I had alot to learn. I wanted to get another dog immediately. If you plan to get another animal you have to wait. You have to bleach your house, vaccinate the dog well before bringing him or her home, and doing these things my not help. Parvo lives up to 1 year in your house, if not longer. In your yard for years. I got a dog after Gracie died and had to do what I told you. I got him at 9 weeks and have to give him parvo vaccines every two weeks. (to keep a high immunity to the contagious disease) He is well worth it. His name is Gage. if you are not sure it was parvo that killed your little dog, still take precautions as if it was. It was not at your cousins house, it was somewhere else, if it was parvo. Parvo does kill fast though.

Depending on where you got it, it could have been a number of things. If you got it from a pet store, it was probably parvo, and for a puppy that young, it should have been taken to the vet right away to be put on fluids and have blood tests done. If you got it from a breeder, it also could have been parvo, but you never know. I work at a vet's office and see way too many cases of this from dogs bought at pet stores, so for your next dog, I encourage you to rescue a dog or go to a breeder if this one was from a pet store. Also, the fact that you got him at 6 weeks is a little unusual. Most breeders now don't let puppies go home before 8 or 10 weeks, sometimes 12. I hope that helps.

Is that the only symptom your dog had was throwing up? Did they leave the dog outside, there are alot of questions here that your not very clear on..
Puppies that die of Parvo is because of the complications of parvo, Puppies can die very quickly when they are vomiting and have the runs bad .. they get dehydrated very quickly. Why did they not take the dog to the vet for you? that would have been responsible of your neighbors to have been "taking care" of your puppy.. Have they ever had a dog with parvo there?
i am sorry to hear about your dog, but your vet could have told you what was wrong if the dog was taken to the vet.

It's very possible it was parvo. They start out lethargic and depressed, no appetite, then vomiting and usually diarrhea--which can be quite bloody. They die from fluid loss and shock. I've seen pups die from parvo within 24 hours--even when they didn't look too bad. A puppy is not completely protected from disease until a couple weeks past it's LAST vaccine. Pups need a series of vaccines, usually 3-4 weeks apart, and a minimum of 3-4. Other causes for a puppy to die suddenly are a sever parasite infection--hookworms can cause so much blood loss the puppy goes into shock and dies.

You could take the dog to the vet if you still have the body and have them perform a necropsy. They can run a bunch of tests to try and ascertain a cause of death. Vomiting could be a symptom of anything from parvo to poisoning. It's really hard to say without knowing more of the dog's symptoms before it died and performing lab tests on its corpse. Sorry for your loss.

My sincere sympathy on the loss of your puppy. Although you did have him for just a short time, the pain is still there. If you need to cry a little more, just read the story, Rainbow Bridge. (Do a search). When I first read your subject line, I thought of renal disease (kidney problems), but I think your puppy would be to young for that. It may have picked up some bacteria at the beach. Anything is possible. Grieve your loss and adopt again. There is a need for a loving home that you provided. God bless you during this time.

It certainly sounds like parvo. Do you know if his Mom was vaccinated? Her immunity would protect the puppy for several weeks. And don't feel badly about you getting or not getting shots for him. Early vaccines do not protect a puppy. They have to be at least 8 weeks old for them to be really effective.
It could have also been a birth defect of his liver. That sometimes causes puppy death as does untreated hook worms.

I feel for you---we all share your pain.
It might have been parvo, I think it happens in hot weather (?) I'm not sure. There are also dangers from the dog accidentally licking spilled anti-freeze, which is deadly poison but smells sweet to animals--there are other substances that might be around he might have gotten into. He also may have been affected by the heat, for some reason.

Is there a reason which you probably did no longer take it to a veterinarian? If the respond is "I cant have the money for it". Then the respond is you are the reason it died. in case you probably did take it to an animal wellbeing practitioner and he taken care of it then there are a a million/2 dozen motives it could have died. a million it became too a ways long handed by ability of the time you took it in 2 it had a deadly ailment because of the fact it became no longer vaccinated 3 It had worms 4 it became poisoned those are the main difficulty-unfastened motives a puppy dies. the quantity one reason pets die is loss of well timed scientific treatment. i'm disillusioned on the gross loss of understanding between people who've inquiries to ask concerning their animals. lots of people who're no longer able to spell (probable examine) with questions that are so "off the wall"... holding an animal ability you are able to desire to look after it, its YOUR job to be attentive to what the animal desires, and furnish them. each and every animal desires to be considered by ability of a animal wellbeing practitioner a minimum of as quickly as a year... they could desire to be examined and submit to quite a few exams that value money. Animals get fleas, worms, fungus infections, injuries... ailments. Vaccinations are a needed element for sturdy wellbeing. purely such as you're vaccinated, your puppy such as your birds could desire to be considered and vaccinated additionally. To get an animal and not be attentive to something approximately this is backwards. First you are able to desire to be sure what form of puppy you are able to desire to pick, gaining knowledge of approximately it.. Then after an intensive scientific examination you deliver it abode and look after it... no longer any opposite direction around.
