Like many Christians, I often wonder what Jesus himself would have said about many of the major issues faced by the Church today.

I feel confident that I know what Jesus would say about capital punishment. He told us to answer hate with love, to turn the other cheek, and to love our enemies. He would be totally against the death penalty.

Jesus knew us even in our mother's womb. I think he would be against abortion.

But how would Jesus respond to the huge controversy over same-sex blessings/same sex marriage and ordination of homosexuals. With the previous two issues, I can read the words of Jesus himself and know what teaches about the matters. But its not the same with homosexuality. He said nothing about it.

So what would Jesus have thought about same sex marriage and the idea of openly gay priests?

What do you think?

Great answers here. I still do now know what Jesus would say about this. But one thing I do is that one cannot look at Jesus in an historical context. You can't say, "well, he was a jew, so here's how he would look at things". If you look at Our Lord in a purely historical context than you are looking at him from a secular point of view - that's not the true Jesus! You have to look deeper than that and study the scriptures.

People have much time to lose. They bother about natural affairs or the work of nature which they cannot understand and if understood cannot do anything.I wonder if there are not other matters than sex more interesting in this world social -for example to know when a human Tsunami could hit or just mind's one's own business in silence. At times we ask ourselves where is that human intelligence leading us or is it that we have not confused intelligence with some thing other (pride is definitely not a sign ).And when we say that poor mentality of the human could be the most dangerous missile people laugh.Well carry on and continue like that -then what the 'suhus' could do other apart from talking sex, gay, abortion and what not?Do such interest all of the world or the majority?Careful there is a difference between serious talks and bla blas.
If you want to know what is said above go the inquisitve critical Q&A way ( and see the difference between statements and questions)- just not to be laughed at ( why? we have among then 'suhus' people who do not know people let apart from understanding others!.

Actually, neither Jesus **nor anyone else** in the Bible spoke one single word against abortion. Even though it already had become a commonly-employed remedy for the medical condition of UNwanted pregnancy 1,000 years before He was born.

The Bible NEVER defends RPEs* as people. The closest it comes is in a passage wherein a fetus is regarded as *property*, and in which the passage also condones SLAVERY. (Ex. 21:20-25)

* RPEs = Reproductive-process entities. (Gametes, Zygotes, Embryoes, and Fetuses -- ALL of which are human (i.e., contain human DNA), are ALIVE, and are *potential* people.

Fully one *quadrillion* Stage One RPEs are electively aborted worldwide, DAILY, by men -- while the **hypocritical** and doltish PSEUDO-Christians of the RRR Cult look the other way and whistle a tune. And keep on trying to PERSECUTE girls and women. (Talk about DUMB!)

The Bible says that God knows us **before** we reach the womb. Which would be at the *gamete* stage. But all that really says is that God is omniscient, and knows EVERYTHING. No argument against abortion there.

As for same-sex marriage (SSM), nothing could possibly be more harmless! Which is probably why Jesus never even spoke out about homosexuality. If a gay couple who've been cohabitating in their community for 20 years suddenly found that they could be legally married -- and then tied the knot -- there is NO way in the world that any *opposite*-sex couple's marriage in that town would be harmed in ANY way.

So much for that "Defense of Marriage" laws hateful **nonsense**. What a blatant and obvious LIE!

And gay priests? Big hairy deal! To whine about that would be as stupid as to whine about left-handed ones. Sexual orientations are nothing more than variations of NORMALCY.

There's probably no collection of people on earth quite so IGNORANT as the hateful RRR Cult lemmings.

He would have said render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's and since marriage is America comes under the heading of Caesers domain not God's he would have by his own words begrudgingly accepted it as he accepted the Roman & Greek homosexual cultures of his own time

As this question did not exist in when Jesus was alive on earth, you cannot presume to answer it as he would have when he was alive. And Jesus is not the church- the church is an institution of man, and so what Jesus believes probably would not be the same as what the church says. I think that as he is said to love all creatures and therefore human beings, he would not have a problem with two human beings who love one another.

Great Question

The bible says that Jesus came in the volume of the book. He was always being accused of being God and they sought to stone Him for the words that He spoke.

John 12:49 (KJV) For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

What ever was spoke in the old testament by God - Jesus would have said the same thing

Jesus would respond:

Genesis 1:12 (Living)
And so it was, and God was pleased.

Genesis 1:21 (Living)
So God created great sea animals, and every sort of fish and every kind of bird.

Genesis 2:23 (KJV)
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Woman was taken out of man - she is not in him- homosexuality is a perversion of epidemic proportion

Mark 10:6 (KJV)
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

As a Christian, when I have doubts about certain things, I know just where to go to find my answers...and that is to Jesus, Himself. So far, there hasn't been any doubts I've had that He has not had an answer for...and you can usually find the answer in the Bible.

Jesus on sexual love and marriage:
Mat 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
Mat 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Mar 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
Mar 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
Mar 10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

Jesus on the Law:
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Looks as if He did mention it.
Doesn't sound as if He would approve.
Why try to force same sex marriage into the church, anyhow?
There are enough folks who will accept it without forcing it on people who don't.

EDIT: Why do people who want to do something they know is against Biblical law ask what Jesus would think about it? It's against God's law, isn't that enough to know? If you live in America, you know that God's law is binding only on God's people. If you wish to live by some other set of rules, you are free to do so. But why, I wonder, would you even think that Jesus would approve? Sin...that is, breaking God's laws...is so terrible, that Jesus came here to die...that is, to DIE...in order that we might find grace for our sins in God's sight. For our part, we are to try to put sin out of our lives...to take up our cross, whatever it is, and follow Jesus. Model your life on His...which means, live to please God.
What does God say about homosexuality?
Seriously, what part of
~"NO!"~
do you have a problem with?????

Jesus would have spoke against it. Although not as bluntly stated in the Bible as "Thou shalt not commit adultry" there are certain things we can string together.God said marriage is between a man and a woman. Most likely "sex" is committed before "marriage".
Altogether its immmoral and wrong.

interior the bible is says this is a sin & says some thing approximately gays no longer being allowed into heaven. i in my opinion do no longer care if 2 gays have been to marry. this is their lives & their enterprise. i think of the only reason this is incorrect interior the bible is using the fact God says for individuals to circulate out & populate the Earth. 2 gay human beings can no longer populate the Earth of course.

When the Pharisees questioned Jesus about divorce Jesus stated tha marriage was between a man and a woman. I would say Jesus has INDEED answered this question.
