If a face is not cleansed properly, then pimples can develop. Part of this cleansing involves removing excess oil from the face which can clog pores and attract dirt to the face.

Oil is only part of the development. It is also cell accumulation in the pores. Once the pores fills with oil and dead skin cells, it pecomes impacted (pressed together to the point that it can no longer move up and out of the pore. This is called a micro-comedo. From there it just gets worse, becomming more and more compacted and growing in size until it can be seen with the naked eye.

It may just sit there as such or continue to grow into a blackhead or grow even larger until it ruptures the pore sac and gets under the skin.

Bacteria (p acnes) live in the pore and eats this oil. Because it thrives in places that do not have oxygen it grows and eats the oil, secreting an acid which irritates the pore lining (easts away at it) until it adds to the fragilness of the sac until it ruptures.

One thing that many do not understand is that oil plays animportant part in moving dead skin cells up and out of a pore. It's like a flushing of a sewer pipe. When you stop oil production, you stop the ability of these cells to move up and out so the chances of thepore becoming clogged is greater. Once plugged, air can no longer reach the bacteria (which kills it) and the bacteria grows.

The real trick is to reduce oil (not stop it) to a point that it can still move cells to the surface yet not be a cosmetic problem.

Yes oily skin is more prone to breaking out. I would recommend lightly splashing water on your face 2-3x a day in between washes and wiping with a clean towel afterwards to prevent breakouts.
Oh, and the WORST thing you can do is wear too much foundation or powder. Make sure your foundation is oil-free. Also powder doesn't work--it makes your skin look cakey & only coats the oil.
