My bridal shower is going to take place about 3.5 months before my wedding mainly because I'm getting married and having my shower in a different state from where I live (both are taking place in my hometown area) and my ability to travel back and forth is limited especially closer to the wedding. Is this inappropriate?

my shower was a month b4 my wedding but we just threw my sister-in-law one at the end of June and she is getting married in September and I also attended one before that and that wedding is taking place at the end of October!
so its not too early especially because of your situation- Congrats!

I don't see a problem. Showers are more commonly held a bit closer to the wedding, but there are circumstances that make this the best way to handle it.
Now if you were talking about having a shower before you became engaged, that might be a problem. ; ) As things stand, it sounds like a practical solution to an organizational difficulty.

That's fine. It could be closer but 3 1/2 months is a good time.

Mine is 3 months before..... it will be better for you in the long run.. more time to write thank-you notes, unpack stuff and return stuff.
