A great rule is no boobs, butts, or bellies.
We try not to stick out or show off because we don't want to distract others from their worship. If people's focus is on clothing or makeup, then it isn't on the Savior.

Guys- basically two options...
1) business suit- matching jacket and slacks, button-up shirt (white or complimentary color), tie, dark shoes and sox.
2) button-up shirt (white, colored, whichever), with a tie, slacks, dark shoes and sox.
Girls- yeah for more options!
A nice blouse and skirt or a dress is preferred. Bottom hemline should probably be at least to the knee. Neckline- if you have anything that will cover "Cleavland" that would be good.
Makeup- nice, natural-ish... no crack-whore look, please. Think business professional or less. I usually wear just enough eyeliner to make me look not-washed-out, brown and white eye shadow, blush, lipstick... oh, and concealer as needed.
If all you have is nice slacks, go for it. Sure, some will look at you funny. If someone asks, tell them this is the nicest you have- (Some may even offer to loan you a dress for next time!)...... nylons of some kind is good (unless you're wearing sandals).
If a girl wants to wear a tie, that's fine.. I think I've done that once... wore a button-up shirt, with a tie and a skirt... was pretty cute, actually!
I have a number of skirts, dresses... yeah, I'm kind of a prude,so they're all to the knee or longer. Last Sunday, I wore a cream v-neck Down East Outfitters shirt, with a long flow-y skirt (sunflowers), and nice flip-flops... no nylons.
I could have traded the flip-flops for knee-high hose and dress pumps- that would have looked nicer, but not quite as comfortable!

Guys usually wear white shirts and ties with dressing pants... missionary style ;)
Girls wear a dress or a nice blouse or shirt with skirts. Modest clothes. The top should cover your back, belly and shoulder and the skirt at least by knee lenght. Not much make up is necessary, you're beautiful anyways.
Inappropriate would be to wear Van Halen t-shirts, mini skirts, gangsta/goth style clothes, and clothes that shows too much from your body ^_^
[Edit]: when I started to go to church I used to wear polo shirts and jeans, sometimes an A&F or similar style hoodie and I NEVER got any look down by someone else or something. When I started to get more serious about the church I changed the jeans for dressing pants and the exact day of my baptism was when I wore a skirt for the first time and I did it because I felt I wanted to because it would be more appropiated, no one forced me or anything.

A skirt and a blouse are usually worn (or dresses) by women and s. Typically outfits are dressy (guys usually wear white shirts and ties or a suit) but not showy, teenage s are advised not to wear their prom dresses to church the day after prom, just to show off. As for the length of a skirt, I would say that something from just above the knee and longer is fine. Some people will wear shorter skirts, but you have to remember that the intent is not to show off, but to show respect to God, and He really doesn't want to see people showing off their bodies at church. For this reason people usually wear shirts with sleeves and higher cut necks to avoid showing cleavage. You may wear it a tie if it is your style.
As for make up, I really don't know how to describe it as a guy, but basically natural colors are typically worn and meant to blend in not show off. Dark makeup around your eyes or bright orange eyeshadow will definitely make you stand out.

Here we go again. How should I act, what should I wear, what is appropriate? If you are being judged on your appearance already, you are already walking in their cult fear. Is there a dress, makeup, proper dress code for any church? Some maybe but, are you going to church to look good or to learn and worship the One? Wear what you want. It shouldn't make one bit of difference what you clothe your body in. It's the heart condition that is important. Are you there to be approved by people, or by God? It's the unimportant things that keep us from the important ones.

It's a cultural thing for the women to wear dresses or skirts (not above knee length).
As for whether casual or formal, I would say smart casual. For myself, as long as I'm in a skirt, and my shirt is not really faded, stained or got holes, I'm happy. (I don't have time to care too much about appearances!)
Personally, I don't see a problem with slacks, if that is what you feel comfortable in. Just come and enjoy... some people are stuffy, but we're not all that way, and it really doesn't matter what people think of you. Just be yourself. I hope you enjoy your visit. And if people look at you, let's hope it's just because they want to get to know you better.
God bless :-)

Girls are supposed to wear a skirt or dress, coming, at its shortest, to the knee. Wear any kind of shirt with it, just not spaghetti or tank top, and try not to have any logos or anything that might be disrespectful or offensive. Girls dont usually wear ties, but i'm sure nobody would kick you out lol. As far as makeup goes, it's fine as long as it's not like, complete goth eye-mask stuff. You know, not over the top.

I was told that, becasue we are going to the house of the Lord, we dress nicely, out of respect for Him. Your best "Sunday go to meetin'" clothes.

Men in shirts and ties and women MUST wear a dress or skirt. Believe me, if you wear slacks or jeans you will get some serious evil eye.
