SAVAGE!
The Accu trigger is awesome, the action and barrel are awesome, the scope and stock are cheap. But then you are only paying $350 for the package. So when you get the money up grade the scope.... Then the stock or never for the stock because it is not horrible it just could be much better. But Definitely the stock.
Check out the 10FXP or 110 FXP.

I have a Mossberg 100 ATR that I bought at Walmart for $250, then bought a scope for it for about $50. It shoots really well, and I don't think I could have made a better choice.
You could also go with a .22 and a smaller scope. about $150 or less.

I hate to admit it, but I gotta vote for the Savage on this one. The scope is junk, and should be replaced when you can do so, as was mentioned above. But they are almost without exception very accurate, and the accu trigger is possibly the best factory trigger on the market. All this and inexpensive too.

Academy stores sell a single shot 223/20ga combination with scope rail that you can easily add a scope too. It should be under $250 for everything.
