How young is too young for a 26 year old to date? And does the sex of the 26 year old matter?

I usually use the 5 year rule
5 years older or 5 years younger.
That way, you know you have some things in common and in your case, you can take whomever it is to a bar (26-5=21)

I think anything younger than 20 would be too young. It's so hard to say though. Females tend to mature faster. If the 20 year old was female and the 26 year old was male, it might work out a little better. If it was the other way around it might be a little weird cuz boys at that age are usually only after one thing and end up thinking stupid and that they are "cool" for dating an older woman.

The sex of the 26 year old doesn't matter, but the 26 year old should KNOW they can't date anyone legally under the age of 18.

well only because the 26 yr old can go to jail for being with a minor under 18 is too young, but im not saying a 26 yr old couldnt fall in love with someone younger, but to me age doesnt matter as long as the feelings are there between two peple, if its a relationship where one of the people could get in trouble, i'd jsut hide it until the other was older, but anyways no age doesnt matter

Well I know a 25 year-old dating a now 18-year old and that was looked down upon by pretty much everyone in the community, even the girl's closest friends. I live in the bay area of california and we are pretty open with things but a 26-year old dating anyone younger than 18 seems a little wierd. But I guess it would be fine if the people cared about one another. It just seems to me that most people who are like in their mid-twenties and date people significantly younger than them are just looking for an easy lay or someone to be kinky with.

I would argue 18, but its really about maturity and experience (not between the covers). Some 16 year olds have more of these then even 18 year olds and vice versa.
But 26, you would wanna be about 20 at least :) he/she has quite a few years experience on you

I believe that 18 is a good age. She or He should be well aware of what goes on i a relationship. Anything under 18 is a little creepy.....I would not approve of any of my friends in there 20's to date under 18. And that goes for f / m makes no difference..

If you are under 18 than forget it. The guy could go to jail. and 26, way too old.
I'd jsut forget it, Date someone your own age.
