I'm happy. I'm comfortable with who I am and how I treat others. If I'm wrong in my belief that there is no afterlife, I'm willing to accept the consequences of my beliefs. So . . . why would I need God in my life?

Three things: Death is not to be feared.
And in response to the question: "Are you saying you never sense some emptiness in your life you never feel like their is something missing?"
Actually . . . no. I did for a while, and then, I realized I wasn't believing in myself enough. But I hardly think my life is perfect. I'm not bitter. Why are you?
And if I don't believe in God, why did I ask? I never said I didn't believe in God. I'm actually not an Atheist. I'm just trying to understand why so many Christians are trying to get me to be Christian when I'm happy with the decision I've made about my beliefs.

It's so obvious! You need God to give you pretty flowers.
You need God to give you sunsets and rainbows and puppies.
You need God to give you Superbowl touchdowns and Stanley Cup victories.
You need God to give you health and breath and life.
Face it, you need God to give, Give, GIVE you stuff. Some of the stuff is pretty good, too. Just learn to ignore the stuff that's less than wonderful, but still give thanks for it.
And He asks so little in exchange. Just your unquestioning loyalty, your undivided attention, your incessant praying, your unending devotion, your singing, your praising, your every ounce of energy, 10% or more of your income and your posessions, one-seventh or more of your calendar, and complete domination of your thoughts and actions.
Hey, when you do the math, you'd be getting those couple of beautiful sunsets at a bargain-basement rate. You haven't been mooching any beautiful sunsets for free, have you?

When you are lying on your deathbed, won't you be scared? God will be there for you. When you are going through tough times and you need more than a hug from a friend. You need the assurance that everything will be ok. You need to have a purpose in life. God gives you that sense of purpose. God gives us a duty - to share His love with the entire world. Without God there would be no laws. Our country was founded upon Christianity. All the values we have worked for - freedom, equality, the pursuit of happiness - were established based upon God's commandments. Yes you need God. Your life may seem wonderful now. But what will happen when it's not fine. There is a Heaven and there is a Hell. You may laugh at believers now, but in the end you will know what you were missing in your life.
I pray that you will open your heart to the wonderful assurance of Jesus Christ. God bless you.

You are still in search of the Truth. You haven't found God because you are looking at the wrong place.
I feel I must give the lie to anyone who says, "I'm looking for God, but I can't find God!" Let that person try to do everything in the truth, free from the demon of pride and the suffocating density of egoism. Let every trace of racism be rooted out, let everyone be welcomed as a brother or sister, and you will see … you will see!
Live love. Act truth. Honor life. And it will be the God beyond you whom you live, act and honor. God will not come to you because you have become "good." God was already there. God has always been coming and always is coming. But now you see God because you have purified your eyes, softened your heart and stooped down.
Remember, God was always there … the only difficulty was that you were unable to see. Now you identify love and light and life more and more with God. You see God even if God is still veiled and expressed in the mysterious parable of created things.
Peace and blessings!

U don't! Problem is, God chose to give U Human / Soul Life at Birth and Free Will as part of the Angelic Conflict. So Now U need to make a Choice as to whether U Participate Positively or Negatively as a "Participant" with (for Ur "Part") the consequence of Heaven or Hell for Ur "Decision". That's all. John

Ive been in the same boat, I was raised by atheist parents,
but i had a friend that told me once, Whats the harm in believing? Just think of it as insurance in case God is real.
Now i believe, but i would recommend reading the Bible from cover to cover first before giving your life to Jesus.
some people will want to tell you only the good aspects of putting your life in Gods hands and not the tough parts.
But the good does outweigh the bad.

You may be willing now to accept the consequences of your beliefs but.... will you always? You need God because He is your Father. He is your Creator, He is your Provider , He is your Friend, He is your Salvation, and He is your Judge. You see God loves all people. Those who serve Him and those who reject Him. He has given you the free will to either return his love or to reject him. He loves you so much that He will respect your choice to reject Him. How you say? How can God respect those who reject Him ? By letting you choose to spend eternity in hell rather than to spend it with Him, God shows His respect by honoring your choice. Some might say how can God send someone to hell for eternity because they rejected Him? Why not just snuff him out. Again God is showing respect for life and your choice. God made all men in His own image.....with eternal life after earthly life. The life of a man is intrinsically good since man was made in God's Image. Therefore life has intrinsic value to God as it should to us. God will not snuff out something that is intrinsically good even if it has rejected the ultimate good which is God. This is why you need to know who God is. This is why you need God in your life. To dwell with Him forever, which is God's purpose for man. Come to Christ , you won't be sorry . Cap'n Arlo

Are you saying you never sense some emptiness in your life you never feel like their is something missing?
Your life is perfect......right...... anyway.
It says in the bible that we are
all sinners we need God to forgive our sins
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 6:23a "...The wages of sin is death
Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain.
Romans 6:23b "...But the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin's penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined with Him, and that He is our life. He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us!
Romans 10:9,10 "...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
Please don't make the bigest miske of your life please relize that thier is a god and he loves you he wan'ts to save you. But you have to let him. He will not force himself on you.
Besides can you actually look around and see the greatness of nature and think that it all just happend. No God the creator made everything.
One last thing don't let people talk you into believeing just to be safe. Believe because you believe not just to be safe incase he is real.

I uderstand what you're saying, but do you understand what you're doing? If you're wrong are you really willing to be forced into the Lake of Fire for all eternity? My recomendation to you is that you at least try to live a Christian life, try it, becasue you'll change you're mind about accepting the consequences when they come. And aside from that, wouldn't you rather have SOMETHING to beleive in. and have SOMEONE to turn to when things do go wrong. Best of luck to you, God Bless.

Your actual life is really the afterlife because that is where you will be spending the rest of eternity. Jesus Christ died so that you could have salvation. Accepting this salvation is showing thanksgiving to Jesus for dying for our sins - he died for each individual, not for himself since he was without sin.
You need God in your life because he constructed man so that he would turn to God. There exists a "God shaped" hole in each person. Your longing for knowledge about having God as a part of your life substantiates this.
The real question should be why wouldn't I need God in my life?
