their Mother after Jesus told us she was our Mother?

Straight from the Bible, Mary is our Mother and Queen of the New Davidic Kingdom:

John 19:26 - Jesus makes Mary the Mother of us all as He dies on the Cross by saying "behold your mother." Jesus did not say "John, behold your mother" because he gave Mary to all of us, his beloved disciples. All the words that Jesus spoke on Cross had a divine purpose. Jesus was not just telling John to take care of his mother.

Rev. 12:17 - this verse proves the meaning of John 19:26. The "woman's" (Mary's) offspring are those who follow Jesus. She is our Mother and we are her offspring in Jesus Christ. The master plan of God's covenant love for us is family. But we cannot be a complete family with the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Christ without the Motherhood of Mary.

John 2:3 - this is a very significant verse in Scripture. As our mother, Mary tells all of us to do whatever Jesus tells us. Further, Mary's intercession at the marriage feast in Cana triggers Jesus' ministry and a foreshadowing of the Eucharistic celebration of the Lamb. This celebration unites all believers into one family through the marriage of divinity and humanity.

John 2:7 - Jesus allows His mother to intercede for the people on His behalf, and responds to His mother's request by ordering the servants to fill the jars with water.

Psalm 45:9 - the psalmist teaches that the Queen stands at the right hand of God. The role of the Queen is important in God's kingdom. Mary the Queen of heaven is at the right hand of the Son of God.

1 Kings 2:17, 20 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom, the King does not refuse his mother. Jesus is the new Davidic King, and He does not refuse the requests of his mother Mary, the Queen.

1 Kings 2:18 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom, the Queen intercedes on behalf of the King's followers. She is the Queen Mother (or "Gebirah"). Mary is our eternal Gebirah.

1 Kings 2:19 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom the King bows down to his mother and she sits at his right hand. We, as children of the New Covenant, should imitate our King and pay the same homage to Mary our Mother. By honoring Mary, we honor our King, Jesus Christ.

1 Kings 15:13 - the Queen Mother is a powerful position in Israel's royal monarchy. Here the Queen is removed from office. But now, the Davidic kingdom is perfected by Jesus, and our Mother Mary is forever at His right hand.

2 Chron. 22:10 - here Queen Mother Athalia destroys the royal family of Judah after she sees her son, King Ahaziah, dead. The Queen mother plays a significant role in the kingdom.

Neh. 2:6 - the Queen Mother sits beside the King. She is the primary intercessor before the King.

In the first century, most men still looked upon woman as animals, to do whatever they wanted with. They were averse to thinking that a woman could ever occupy the heavenly realm. When Tiberius announced that the whole world should be counted, this included woman and children, not just the adult males. This was probably not a noble purpose on the part of the Government, they were probably thinking how much more tax money they could rake in. It did serve to raise the status of women somewhat, at least they now officially existed, but change would be slow to come. In the modern century, women still had to fight to be recognized as more than subhuman.

Mother nature is just an expression. There is no tradition built around it,like Paul Bunyan. The term is synonymous with nature.

How can you be Christian and not recognize the Virgin Mary as a spiritual mother?
I feel very sheltered all the sudden.

Mary was just a women. There is nothing she can do for you. We pray to Jesus. You don't pray to Mary. She was Jesus' mother when he was on earth. Granted she had to be someone pretty special for God to choose her. Not all Christians talk about mother nature. There is no such thing. Blessed be those who call on His name.

Father God, yes. Mother Nature, no.
Jesus never said Mary was our mother. Mary was a very nice lady but not someone we ought to be praying to. All Christians are technically "saints". That would be like me praying to my neighbor when I need help.

Luke 1:42 “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!"

Luke 1:28 “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (the Angel Gabriel)

Luke 1:48 "For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed." (The Virgin Mary)

John 19:26-27: "He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home."

the fifth commandment "Honor thy father and mother"

----------------------------------------

on praying to the Saints,

1 Thes. 5:10 " who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him."

James 5:16b "the fervent prayer of a righteous man is very powerful."

Rev. 5:8 "When he took it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones."

Rev. 8:3 "Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a gold censer. He was given a great quantity of incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the holy ones, on the gold altar that was before the throne."

so it is appropriate not to worship Saints, but to honor them and request their prayers, which is all the Orthodox, and I suspect also the Catholics, do. So good question, I don't know. Some 'Bible following Christians' don't seem to know what is in their Bibles.

The Orthodox Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom:
"Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of Thy womb,
for Thou hast borne the Savior of our souls."

"More honorable than the Cherubim and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim,
without defilement Thou gavest birth to God the Word, true Theotokos, we magnify Thee.

For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. [Refrain]

For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name,
and His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation. [Refrain]

He has put down the mighty from their thrones and has exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent empty away. [Refrain]

He has helped His servant Israel in remembrance of His mercy,
as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever. [Refrain]" -- from the book of Luke

--note - Scripture proclaims that man would be lifted above the angels (i.e. above the Cherubim and Seraphim).

I'm a Christian & I never talk about "Mother Nature" nor do I pray to, bow down to or worship a human being who is long dead & gone. Mary was a human vessel who did a great work on behalf of the kingdom of God. She was used just as anyone who is open to God can be used to do great work. My Bible says that Jesus Christ is "the way, the truth & the life & no one comes unto the Father but by Him." My Bible also says that "Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God the Father in Heaven ever making intercession for us." Why in the world would I ever consider going to Jesus' earthly mother to ask her for something when I can go directly to Jesus Christ, the Son of God & the one who died for me to become that intercessor for me? He's the only one who can plead my case for me. The only one who can remind His Father of the blood He shed for me that covers my sins. Mary doesn't see me. She doesn't hear me. She doesn't know me & I don't know her. Millions who worship her & bow down to her (idolatry & graven images) are not being heard. Those who follow her are being led astray. No where does my Bible tell me to pray to Mary. No where does it tell me to idolize her or bow down to her.
