Is it proper or appropriate for a company in the United States to fly the flag of Mexico in their front yard just because they have another facility in Mexico? They also have a U.S. flag right next to it. It just seems that the Mexico flag shouldn't be flying on our soil on an even level with U.S. What do you think?

The Flag Etiquette website is a great one, indeed. And with regard to the US and another nation's flag, the US flag is flown above it, or to the right (from the "general" viewpoint) of the other national flag, because the "righthand" side is considered the more honorable position.

As to the one answerer's answer saying the US flag is "always" on top, he is incorrect. The Christian Flag (or any other church's flag) is considered a "higher" flag than the US flag.... because our "loyalty" is to our faith first, country second... and so on. This is why you may see a church flying a Christian flag at FULL-staff while the US flag may be at half-staff. The Christian flag rarely flies at half-staff for any reason. "911," of course, was one of those rare exceptions.

But the flag of Mexico is perfectly acceptable to fly at the same "level" if 2 poles are of equal height... but it is to be flown, as I said, to the left of the US flag.... OH... and when raised and lowered, the US flag is raised FIRST, then the Mexican flag is raised... when lowered.. the Mexican flag is lowered first and the US flag lowered LAST!!!

Have a great day!

We live in a free country. The freedoms we sometimes hate to see others use are also the very freedoms we ourselves would not want to give up.
Many corporations have flags, six flags for instance.
Heck My mother n law is an American, however she has family from Canada and flies both flags, the canadian is smaller but still remember it is just a flag, be it from Mexico or any other country..

The Mexican flag should be flown lower than the US flag. Not necessarily by much, but as long as it is lower then they are fine.
We had quite a few businesses in ND fly both the US and Canadian flag, showing they were happy to do business with the Canadians and often had a good deal on exchange rates.

Jilly, I agree with you. I think it's ok to fly a flag from another country if the American company has visitors from that country. And it should be lower than the American flag if they insist on flying it full time.
And to the person above me: It's not JUST A FLAG. Have some respect for it! And living in a free country has NOTHING to do with it.

You should never fly any flag even or above the American flag, but there is no problem with flying one lower. This is our country - but we can embrace others as well.
