Just tonight we realized that my 900 dollar motorcycle and 100 dollar bicycle was stolen. They were locked with a padlock which was obviously cut with bolt cutters. The lock was gone, same with the bikes. We called the cops and filesd a theft. Luckilty they didn't take the registration/title to the motorcycle. We know the theives were kids, because they took the bicycle. How do we get this stuff back? Go looking for it ourselves, and how do we find my bicycle? My Dad said it would be painted flat black, since the had stolen it.

BTW: We were here at the house all day today and yesterday.

I know they can't get any money off the motorcycle because we have the regestration documents. We know it 's kids because an experienced theif would take the documents.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. Those thieves now have to answer to a higher source...God and their conscience.

Try looking through your local newspapers for motorcyle and bicycle ads and go on line to any newspapers that allow one to sell items on line. See if someone is stupid enough to try and sell it off right away for the cash. Talk with all of your neighbors and see if they heard or saw anything, or have seen suspicious kids or adults in the neighborhood.
Drive through your neighborhood and just check around properties. Maybe by some chance you will spot your items in someone's garage. If you do, don't confront them, but call the police right away and have your registration documents handy for comparison.
Keep checking with the police station to see if they have turned up. The police gets busy, and can't often keep up with the demands and complaints.

Attend you local community neighborhood watch meetings, if you have one. It's a chance to meet your neighbors, find out what's going on crime wise in your area, and speak directly with the policeman who canvass your street and area.

I wish you the best of luck.

Not necessarily kids. Nobody ever called a thief "smart". There is a market for anything. You dont need to papers to sell stolen property to another low-life individual. They wont be able to pawn it (motorcycle), but repainting it and selling it wont be a problem if they are experienced. If you didnt notice them or hear them and were home all day, pretty good shot that they are more experienced than you might think, kids or not.

the motorcycle was probably stolen for its parts. if you can't find it in the first day after its stolen, its already parted and the parts were given or sold to other people already. You have a 1% of finding it intact. Anything with the VIN number on it (the frame, the engine casing) are disposed of in a trash so that police can't track its ownership.

So no, they didn't steal it to ride it, they stole it for the parts.

bicycle...eh, tha'ts another story. but more than likely you wont ever see it again either.

seen any suspicious types nearby lately?
Unfortunately, cops wont do anything about it.
Only thing you can do is search the area within maybe 1-2 mile radius. The bike may either get parted out, or they may just take it to paint it, ride it around some fun, then dump it.

If you get your property back, it will be by accident! Law Enforcement simply doesn't have time to handle the workload. I'm sure you are right regarding it being kids. I would be very careful what they could see and/or access.

Sorry this happened....been there done that! Maybe your home owner's insurance will help out.

Print up flyers offering a reward and post them around the neighborhood. Maybe someone will return them.

yes, they can sell the things they took. You will probably never get them back. There are people that will buy the stuff and trade it for drugs. Don't hold your breath, cops never recover anything.
