People that answer in the simple ways as yes or no, or like u said just a few words are not thinking things out. They just want points. I am a thinker and only answer things that i might have an answer for. This one...well maybe 3. You have to think about the question and give an answer that people may be helped. I am sure I will get a lot of thumbs down, but that is not what it is all about. Plus it takes me awhile to type. I am not the fastest person out there. Hope you like what I just said. I like sharing my inner thoughts with others

I have been asked if I was a humble person. I try to be, but did not wish to say yes because you are right, that would not seem humble. So instead I asked them if they think I am humble.

It is a relative statement. Humility is relative from one person to the next. One person may be considered humble by the standards of his society, yet have enough awareness of that society to be able to say that he is so. His level of humility, while not necessarily that of your own reference, may still be such that he is considered humble by those around him.
By MY context of the word, however, a truly humble person does not know it. Humility is an internal trait that cannot be learned or taught, and those that are truly so, never realize it, never speak to it, and are never told such things by others. There is never a need to be told by others that which just is.
Hope this helps...

Wow, that's a tough one.
I've heard it said that humility is agreeing with God. Therefore, if a humble person knows that he/she is humble, it would be a lie to say otherwise.
Jesus said of himself, "I am humble (or meek) and gentle (or lowly) of heart."
Of course, some people think they're humble when they are most certainly not! I've found that the people who tell me that I need more humility--in those words--tend to be the proudest of all. I think they were trying to browbeat me into submission.
I think I'm humble at times, but probably not all the time, maybe even not most of the time. How'm I doin'? ;D

i dont think so. A humble person would not admit that they had a more honest living than another, thus defeating the entire idea of being humble

I don`t think a humble person will answer your question. In admitting to be humble such a person would be a traitor to the very meaning of the word.I think if u wish to know whether a person is humble u should ask if anybody knows a humble person.A truly humble person cannot declare himself to be humble.

As long as I am not trying to be the most humble person, I am satisfied and feel more humble than not.

Hello Dane.. :)
According to dictionary.com
Humble:
Marked by meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not arrogant or prideful.
Showing deferential or submissive respect: a humble apology.
Low in rank, quality, or station; unpretentious or lowly: a humble cottage.
===============================================
Just because one can answer this question does not mean they are not humble.. :)

Well of course. Humility isn't making yourself some piece of dirt, it is agreeing with what God says about you..., nothing MORE and nothing LESS. Knowing we can do nothing of ourselves and without Him, also knowing we don't want to. We are here because we are supposed to be here and are equipped to complete a mission and no one else can do what we are supposed to be doing. We are each unique and one of a kind and no one can take our place. We are wonderfully and fearfully made and God loves us as much as He loves Jesus (Psalms 139:14 & John 17:23)
To know this and believe it and act from that reality and truth is humility.
It is modesty, unpretentiousness, without vanity or boasting. It's being who God says you are: "His creation, His child: son or daughter (if you are born-again), made in His likeness; a spirit who has a soul (mind, will, and emotions) and living in a body with all the benefits and privilege of living in the kingdom of God.
Humility doesn't mean a life of demeaning one's self.
Wow, what a misunderstanding of what humility truly is! I was amazed as I read some of the answers. To KNOW isn't a lack of humility; to BOAST or FEEL superior defiles humility. It IS OK to know you are humble when you understand what it really is. To refuse to admit it when you know you are makes you a liar. Don't confuse passivity as being humility.

He or she could say something like, "Humbleness is a virtue I strive for every day with various degrees of success."
And, yes, a person generally knows the degree to which he/she is humble, don't you? :)
