You need to beat yourself first for letting him have the keys at 2am in the first place. Come on, why wasn't he in bed asleep by then? Make him get a summer job and pay for gas, insurance, car washes, etc. Also, charge him what the courts would have charged you for a minor getting in trouble with the law.

sorry to sound mean, but why did you give him the keys to the car at 2 AM? getting a cd from the car is a really bad excuse. don't beat him, that will only make things worse. i'm a teenager, i know. don't go overboard. that will make things worse as well. take away his privalleges. don't let him be out past the 10 PM curfew. make sure he understands that rules have been broken and that now he must pay for his actions. however, as said, don't go overboard because that will only make things worse and it will only make him want to be even more rebellious

Hmm.. Is he your only son? Just remember, he may be taking care of you one day so you don't want him counting down the days until he's 18.

I'd never let him have the car again. In fact, I'd make him get a job and walk to work. And then make him pay about $150 a month for room and board.

Have the cops lock him up for a few days for 1) taking the car without your permission. 2) underage drinking 3) drinking and driving. A few nights in the slammer could help straighten him out a bit AND you'll get a few nights of good, uninterrupted sleep. Tough love!

i will permit you be conscious of what i does not do, and that's cover on the hours of darkness and punch him. And if I have been in an area that had an area Watch application, observed the watch captain in a truck, on the telephone to to police, i does not be nervous of him in spite of his complexion. **** heavily...you think of he have been given lost 3 hundred ft from his abode? you're ridiculous. All Zimmerman did replaced into watch and phone the police...precisely what he ought to have carried out. you may desire to spend a great style of time skulking around unusual neighborhoods if a watch captain of any colour scares you.

Wow, no, I would wait until the next time he/she needs the car and disallow it in front of the other kids that he/she is with. Our daughter has seemed to be very influential by doing this.

Doing things in front of her friends makes it harder for her to be the one to ask for the car, etc.....

My husband nor I would ever beat our daughter for doing that, though, although she has done similar antics in the past.....beating only proves how smart they are, responsibilities are how smart she is, though....and removing some of them, then she is less smart, yes?

Dont beat him, just ground him for life. My daugther would be in SO much trouble. Make his life hell for the summer. No friends, no TV, nothing. And make him do some community service and maybe when his community service is done and he shows some responsibility then maybe you could unground him.

when my daughter did something simular to this, i called the cops and had them take her away for being drunk. she spent some time, a few hours in a small town police station just sitting in a chair getting sober, and realized mom was serious and not going to let this happen when she lives in my house....maryb

I think I'd be hiding all the keys to start with. And what did the police do? Did they follow up?
