Not exactly.

We are saved by faith, not by works. Baptism comes later.

Born after a woman's water breaks?? You think this passage refers to natural birth?? Jesus was asked what a person must do in order to be saved ... and you think His response was, "you must exist"?? I mean, telling people they have to be born in order to be saved is pretty self-evident, don't you think? Besides, the people who asked this question were already born!! Jesus was telling THEM - a group of people already born, already existing, what THEY must do to be saved; and what He told them was that THEY must be reborn through water and the spirit, an obvious reference to the sacrament of baptism.

No,you are not saved by baptism. Baptism is to prove to the world or public that you are no longer the person you use to be and you are a new person in Christ now. We are saved by grace when we ask for forgiveness of all our sins and ask Jesus to be our savior and to come into our hearts to lead us and guide us on to the right path, for our salvation.

I believe that being babtised is an open, public confession about your faith in God, and that Jesus died for you on the cross. The symbolism behind it is that as your being babtised the old person goes into the water, and a new person of Christ comes out. But I believe that when you first dedicate your life to Christ or make a rededication that it's not possible to stay the same, thus the old person dies and you are new again in Christ.

No, I don't believe that one needs to be baptized in order to be saved. Jesus died on the cross for the salvation of those who choose to accept Him. Therefore, I personally believe that one just needs to acknowledge that He is their Lord and Savior to be saved.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."
~Ephesians 2:8-9 (New International Version)~

I asked this question to my bible study menotre and she said no, you are saved by praying and asking God for forgiveness and accepting Jesus as your savior. Baptism is a way to show your new life in Jesus, and we are instructed to do it, but if we don't, and we die or something happens to us, we are still saved.

We are saved when we accept Jesus as Lord and saviour of our lives. I was baptised to confirm my commitment to God.
