I'm thinking of getting rid of my 2002 jetta but I don't know if I should keep or sell it. What car would be a good replacement? I want something reliable and safe. A friend is selling his 2004 Cavalier, should I get it?

Sell a Jetta and get a Cavalier? NEVER in a million years. The Jetta is a pretty decent car that should serve for another 10 years with care. The Cav is a piece of trash that will be dead in 2 or 3 more years.

Consumer Reports consistently rated the Jetta as one of the top cars sold in the US. Conversely, the Cavalier was rated the worst car sold in the US. Not one of the worst, just the worst.

NO. If you have a Jetta now you will NOT be happy with a cavalier. If you are looking new, I recomend the Ford Fusion, consumer reports, J.D. Power, Car And Driver, and third party consumer research, have all ranked it higher than camry and accord, and it is rated as one of the best mid size vehicles available on the market

Definitely do not get the Cavalier.
I would only trade a Jetta on a Honda or a Toyota. And I've owned Jetta's.

God, no. The Cavalier is one of the crudest, least reliable cars on the road. Look at a Mazda 3 or a recent Focus if you'd like something decent.
