My son is 4 years old and currently in a pre-K program in Arapahoe County, Colorado. The cost is getting to be to much but it is important for him to continue this for social skills as well as for education. I am not considered low income but I cannot afford this much longer. Does anyone know if there is assistance for this and how do I go about getting it? If anyone has been through this, I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Contact one of the following agencies at the links I've provided below. People at one of these agencies can help you, and if they can't they can point you to people in other organizations that can. I worked under Gretchen Davidson, the ACECC Council Coordinator, when she was the site supervisor for the Clayton Elementary ECE Program. I'm sure she can be of some help to you. Also, I've provided a link to Arapahoe County's Community Support Services Division. They offer various financial assistance programs for those in need. I hope all works out for you and your son. I'm glad to learn you're doing whatever you can to ensure his safety and provide for his learning. Take care.

Good advice, Rosee. Also check into Head Start. It is usually for low income families but does accept over-income families sometimes for a variety of reasons. Also, call your local elementary school. There is a trend toward school districts providing free pre-K services for 4 year olds and there might be something available for you there.

Call children's services( same office as the CPS office) in your county and ask your question. Some states offer free pre-k in the public schools. I do not know if CO offers free pre-k.
