Because we're human Dennis..and we resent being told what to do..or what some think we should believe in. I use the word "resent" because feelings are strong in people..because when one is attacked at the core of their being they will hit back, and i think this is some of what's happening here...I'm not including everyone in that, but feelings run deep for whatever reason. I have noticed Christian posts which point the finger at others in condemnation..when this stops and questions are asked with love and concern for others welfare, the resentment will be no longer...just one way of looking at it..
anyway God Bless you xx
Jesus is my Lord
Shalom

I personally do not fit into either of these categories, as I follow two different atheistic religions. Hence I am religious, yet I am an atheist. I have no God, but I still have my religions.

It's very true what you say, although I get the feeling that you totally represent the Christian faith only in your question. Fortunately I can inform you that this is not going to help you. In order to fully understand your situation and find the answer to your question, you must now imagine that you were a non-Christian. Would you not be annoyed by so many people waving their religion in your face?

But as always, I will not take any one side. I have seen that it works in many different ways. I have witnessed Christians being hateful towards people of many different non-Christian faiths, just as I have seen retaliation from all sides.

In my view, to cause offense causes harm, which is frowned upon in both of my religions. I would like to bring harmony to this topic, but there are some who will not stand shoulder to shoulder with their fellow humans. These people may one day know that they were wrong.

Everyone who has opinions will get insulted at one time or another. Whether it be about religion or any subject. I am religious and many poeple insult my religion. I find that most people who make rude remarks are either intimidated or ignorant.

Its not just atheists. One man accused me of lying about being Pro-Life in my last question. He was a Christian, and my fight for Life is very important to me.

I'm sometimes guilty of making insulting remarks to aggressively stupid postings. But I'm not singling out religious ones. It just happens that a large majority of aggressively stupid postings are made from the religious perspective. But in all fairness, there have been some lucid and thought-provoking ones from that point of view as well.

I only get angry with believers because, more than anything, they are lazy. They accept what they are told, without a single shred of evidence and are unable or unwilling to question it. They wonder why those of us who do so find them, err strange.

My feeling is they are either insecure, gullible, or simply lack the intellect to question rationally.

If they had made just a little effort and then still came to the conclusion there is a God, I would have a little more respect. Sadly, most of them won't make that effort.

Well I am neither an atheist nor a hardcore Christian..... I am spiritual... but I have my limits........ this insult comes from the fact that atheists are usually attacked for their beliefs...... and they fight back with their own ideals...... if I told you you were going to hell because you didn't believe in Cinderella you would probably fight me on that point....but to an atheist The Bible is nothing but a big fairytale, so its a mute point.

Human nature, dude. It is always easier to give pat answers or insults than to provide an answer to the question, "why do you beleive what you believe?" I can answer that question and give a reasonable defense for why I hold the belief that I hold. Most people (from both sides of the arguement) cannot.

If asking hard questions and insisting on answers rather than a parroted response is "insulting," then I imagine this will continue since this is a forum for receiving answers to questions.

ask your self why it incredibly is in basic terms Christians that get attacked and not the different religions?!!!! Do you no longer recognize that Christians are scary retaliation and repudiation for their poor attitudes?!! possibly if Christians stopped their illiberal, egotistical, hate crammed and bigoted postings issues ought to alter!! possibly if Christians stopped eschewing training, technological understanding, evolution works of fiction and a lot, a lot extra issues ought to alter!! possibly if Christians stopped being the sole faith opposing human rights and persecuting gays, professional selection and so a lot extra issues ought to alter!! possibly if Christians stopped annoying freedom of religion collectively as they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them issues ought to alter!! !!! If Christians rediscovered the god of affection and forgiveness and placed aside all those poor human thoughts issues would particularly replace!!!! Why are Christians so apprehensive of folk who in basic terms don't have self belief in any god?!!!! certainly it may in basic terms be via fact they're so afraid that atheist are stunning and that they are incorrect or it does not problem them!!!!!! Time for Christians to understand that it is not approximately god, jesus or theory yet with regard to the poor Christians attitudes and habit!! as quickly as they rediscover the loving god Christianity used to have and initiate appearing like it the priority will end!!!

Trouble is, most of us don't like to be bombarded with religion, after all, faith is a choice. We should all respect each others points of views though. Freedom of speech (or typed word) is not a bad thing unless it's a personal attack.
