I only plan on working for a year because I will be starting graduate school for military history/defense studies next year, so ideally I'd like to work in something having to do with government, military or politics because that's what I want to do for my career. I live in Los Angeles so there is definitely a lot out there, but from what I've seen in my search so far, it seems nothing in the government sector is entry-level or suitable for recent grads because they all want experience and extensive training. I don't want to spend so much time training because I'll be leaving within a year. Anybody have any ideas on what could be a good job for me?

You might want to consider an internship (possibly a job) with a local political think tank. Aside from that, consider tutoring or substitute teaching.

Aside from that, with only a year to spend at the job, you might find many employers willing to take a risk or spend their limited resources.

Do you know that DIA (Defence Intelligence Agency) occassionally take in newly grads as lab assistants and trainee analysts? You can sent in your resume indicating that. While your chances might not be high, its still worth a try.

Unfortunately, because I don't major in History, I can't really provide much help with your question. You should contact the staff in your college about post graduation job opportunities.

Best of luck to you anyway.

i don't have much experience in this area lol, but I'd start small and work your way up; you don't shoot the moon first day on the job, you work towards it. I'd be a docent at some museum or be a teacher. an internship sounds like a good idea, too.
