This is referred to as a Mesiodens. It is an extra tooth in the anterior segment or as you say, a front tooth. It could also be called a supernumerary tooth. For whatever reason, you developed an extra tooth. It should most likely have been removed when it was first noticed. Does it interfer with your bite?

see your dentist, it's not urgent unless its hurting you, and ask him/her to run some x'rays to see what might have gone wrong. you might just need it taking out and having braces but don't do anything until you have the x-rays, do you hear me? NOTHING! Promise me, k? Don't worry about it either, just try and get on with your life and don't let it get in the way of your confidence!
