Very difficult, yes, (for one thing you have to learn two languages, one to be spoken to males, the other to females, i.e. in Egyptian arabic: Izzayak = how are you to men, Izzayik = how are you to women). But I wouldn't say it's too hard. If you're planning a trip to an arabic country, learn as much as you can, it will be better than nothing.

If you don't have the patience, it is hard to learn any language, if you have simple understanding, then you should be able to get it. I to would like to learn Arabic, but then again i want to learn many languages...

For an English speaker it's a bit difficult. Also consider that you have to learn a completely different alphabet. I studied Farsi (Persian), and it's easier to pronounce than Arabic.

Persian is much easier for a foreign speaker. Arabic is way faster and harder to pronounce than Persian. It is also easier because it includes some french, English, Indian, German and Arabic words included in the language.
I am Persian.

I've been able to learn my prayers, about 6 surahs of Qur'an, and a few dua'a (prayer supplications) over the course of about a year.

I have a hard time with the everyday use of the language, but insha'Allah, that will change over time.

But I'm 39 years old, so that might help explain it!
