Okay, I'm biased--I love-love Sinead O'Connor and have for 20 years, and I let it show here at Y!A, too. But I still found this quote from an interview very interesting:

"People often say, 'If there's a God, why does he let bad things happen?' We expect God to be perfect, but if we're made in God's image, then perhaps God isn't perfect. And that's OK."

The interview is in Christianity Today (can you credit?):

It really struck me because I am so prone to saying, "It/she/he/they aren't perfect and that's okay," but it never occured to me to say that about my Gods....

How is her theology any more made up than anyone else's, from the Pope's to Billy Graham's to the Dalai Lama's to yours?

At least she honestly says it's what she and she herself believes.

in the book Conversations with God
the same is said
God ( an all powerful deity/energy)
cannot feel emotions on a human level
so how can something that hasnt felt emotions be perfect ?

and that is the reason given for creating us
to learn from as we experience these emotions
through us , God understands about God

I like Sinead, too.

I wouldn't have occurred to me either to discuss God as an imperfect being, but it gives me something to think about. I agree with Pangel also, that we're here to learn and experience for God.

Of course God is perfect. He is unable to sin. If God wasn't perfect than Jesus would not be perfect either, because they are the same. Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit comprise the Trinity which is God. If Jesus was not perfect, then he could not have died on the cross for our sins, and we would still be utterly and hopelessly lost.

Of course god is not perfect. He is after all a creation from the mind of man so therefore he would not be perfect.

If you noticed throughout the whole interview she was saying "i believe", "i believe" . . . .but what she was believeing was her own made up theology. Based on that fact I think it would be absurd to say that anything she says is wise. In fact, it is scary that someone like her can influence the fan base that she has. For those that read this that are unsaved, please, please read, read and read the word of God in the Bible. . God/Jesus is waiting to love you and reach his hand out to you for eternal life if you will only take it.
