In his encyclical, "The Reunion of Christendom" (1885), Pope Leo XIII stated that the pope holds "upon this earth the place of God Almighty."

The Catholic book, "My Catholic Faith" which is based on the Baltimore Catechism, on page 251, says, "The Pope can make and unmake laws for the entire Church; his authority is Supreme and Unquestioned. Every bishop, every priest, every member of the Church is subject to him."

Why do Roman Catholics get angry and say im making False Witness? This IS what your organization claims. Or are you not true Roman Catholics?

I just want an explanation on these statements made by the Roman Catholic Church.

F.Y.I. Im Not a Protestan or Catholic.

*Is Catholic*

What you write is true. Perhaps you are talking with liberal Catholic In Name Only people. They get mad because they do not understand Christ or His Church.

EDIT
OR having read some responces and your other posting perhaps it is because you use anti-Catholic sources and take true statements and twist them to serve the devil (unknowingly or knowingly).

Leo XIII did not speak this Ex Cathedral. Therefore, there is no doctrinal weight to it. In essence -- he was simply wrong.

Yes, the Pope does make and break the laws for the Church. He is, after all, the Vicar, the safekeeper and steward, humble to his Master, but given the authority to maintain that stewardship towards oneness and unity.

And I too am neither a Protestant or Catholic... I'm an atheist.

Meg... um... where did he ever mention a New York Catechism?

The Pope and Councils can change the disciplines of the Church but they cannot abolish the doctrines and morals of the Faith-nor have they .

The Church teaches that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ ,Universal Pastor,Supreme Pontiff and Chief Steward of the Church OnEarth. The Pope is not the replacement of Jesus.

Perhaps if you did not take your quotes out of context and provide a URL where one could view the entire quote in context there would be much less of a visceral reaction to your criticism. But, since your quotes are taken from the writings of Loraine Boettner, an infamous Catholic critic instead, they are viewed with suspicion.

The quotes are simply saying that the pope serves with authority from God all of humanity until the Parousia.

In Christ

Speaking most effective with reference to Celtic, Anglo Saxon, Norse, and different "European tribes" (as that's the field I have researched essentially the most). When Catholic conversion was once enforced in those locations, the church had an attractive set coverage of changing the bulk by means of "christianizing" their current practices up to feasible. This concerned sanctifying areas that had earlier been committed to Pagan God's, and growing christian subject matters for preexisting holy days. This did not continuously paintings as good as they could have appreciated, due to the fact the individuals effortlessly could now not abandon all in their practices (which was once a consistent bone of competition to the church). Often occasions, a tradition or tribe could select to view the christian fable via their possess designated global view, founded at the perceptions that have been handed down from their Pagan ancestors (for instance the Celtic church, which maintained a robust experience of the sacredness of nature, and a devotion to human innate honor) and brought on the leaders of the Roman catholic church no finish of frustration (see Palagius as an instance). Many of those traditions have even observed there manner all the way down to our current tradition. Much of the that means has been obscured, because the church did the whole lot in it is vigour to erase any hint of prior knowledge, however the symbolic act stay. This isn't conjecture, we honestly have a significant frame of writings, from the church leaders possess arms, specifying the quandary and their tried answers (which ordinarily concerned stricter regulations, and harsher punishments).

what is so bad about it? He is infallible when it comes to declaring and Dogma. I happen to believe Jesus when he said "Thou art Peter (rock) and upon this rock I will build my Church (not Churches) and THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL OVER HER" How would he do that unless he left someone in charge always that would steer her always straight. What people forget is it is Jesus who does the steering and the Pope as a man can personally sin just like the next guy but Jesus would take the Pope out before he declared faulty theology or Dogma. There have been so called Popes in the past who declared themselves Pope but, they were not validly elected and therefore not officially POPE.

The Pope has final authority for dogma of the Church, whereas Protestants have no such authority. Not surprisigly, there are hundreds of Protestant denominations because of this. They have no authoritative source to turn to. The Pope is only infallible when speaking ex cathedra, which doesn't happen all that often. The infallibility of the Pope does NOT imply that ANYTHING he says is automatically true. It simply implies that he CANNOT say anything that is false.

>>Why do Roman Catholics get angry and say im making False Witness?<<

Because you "quoted" from a book ("The New York Catholic Catechism") that DOESN'T EXIST.

The founder of Catholic Church wanted greatness, and glory. Jesus told him I pray for you, for the devil has desire to have you and he will sift you like wheat, You could not watch for one hour, If you deny me, I will deny you before my Father.

I tell you I shall be betrayed, I tell you this night you shall deny me three times before the cock crows.
