Yes it matters...AR670-1 dictates the uniform of ACU, BDU & DCU.

You can get the ACU shirts at any army supply, AAFES, or even ebay.

You can wear the ACU t-shirt with either the DCU, ACU, or BDU ~ so they are the most verisitile.

it matters to the army, they have regulations on what their uniforms look like. If you go to clothing sales and ask them, they will get you the right shirts. They're a light tan (sand) color for the ACU's.

For BDU's the undershirts are to be brown according to AR670-1.

For DCU's the undershirts are to be brown also, and for ACU's tan. All of these regulations can be found in the AR670-1 wear of military uniforms. You can find information at http://www.yahoo.com and type in ar670-1.

Usually the Army must wear the tan colored shirts on deployments, but because they are so hard to find (you're not alone in that), many commanders will authorize the green shirts worn by the Marines. You may want to check with his commander though.

Unless you want him to get busted for being out of uniform you better go on base and get him the uniform undershirts that he has to wear while in uniform.
